clurpantz Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I've been accepted to my top choice and want to respond to their admissions offer, do i need to be formal? or can I just say YES ONE MILLION PERCENT YES! Thoughts??
velli Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 As a mathematician, percentages above 100 upset me. Jokes aside, it doesn't matter. Nothing bad will happen if you send an "I'M SO HAPPY" email in all caps. Will the program director/administrator appreciate an email like that? It depends on his/her personality, and you probably got a sense of that when/if you met them, even if only via email. When in doubt, it's advisable to be professional, even if not entirely formal. But all things considered, do whatever makes you happier. Also, congrats.
jujubea Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I responded via the Web portal, which provided no area for personal messages. Then, I emailed one of my POI's (the one I had been most recently in contact with), and told her I was so excited to come there this Fall, in what was probably a mix of casual and professional tones.
yolk Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Keep it "professionally excited". Thank them for bearing good news and tell them you are excited to receive the offer. It is a great moment after all! gliaful 1
