jessicas
Hi everyone, Now that I'm just about finished my MA (my MRP is due on Monday), it's time to start thinking about PhD applications (for Political Science). I was thus wondering if there are any books that you found useful in terms of the application process? For example, maybe books with examples of SOPs? Since I have been through the MA application process, I know the basics. However, I know the PhD Application rounds are a lot more competitive and I want to do the best I can. Any advice? I hope it's okay that I started a new thread! I tried to look for similar threads, but I couldn't find anything on this topic.
joro
I think a good place to start would be your references. Ask them for help on your SOP such as what you should be writing on or for an outline of some sort. They've been through this too.
Summit_Bid
Donald Asher's "Graduate Admissions Essays" is good. But I agree with the above poster, get feedback from other professors or students already in the program you want to apply to.
rainy_day
I second the recommendation for Asher's book. There are lots of SoPs in there!
