lm2830
Hi all. I am really looking for some advice on graduate schools both in the field of psychology. I have a Bachelors in allied health and autism studies. For a long period of time I wanted to be a BCBA or a school psychologist but I have recently been leaning towards becoming a school adjustment counselor (school social worker). There are a few programs near me that allow for certification as either a MSW/School Adjustment Counselor or a LMHC/ School Adjustment, and I think that this seems like a really interesting option. These programs generally take 3 years. OR I also could go the BCBA route, and be done a lot faster with a program and probably still love what I do. Just wondering if anyone had any insight on either types of programs. Thanks!
MacaronAmour
I'm currently a BCBA and in a PhD program for behavior analysis. First off, what do you want to do for a career? What would the school adjustment counselor role entail? What are you planning to do with your BCBA?
dancedementia
If you're interested in working in schools, I would suggest either an MSW or potentially even getting a School Psych EdS, which will give you a lot more power compared to a simple counseling degree, but then again it comes down to what you want to do in school counseling.
