amine Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I saw a reject from berkeley (EECS) in the results section, looks like some rejections are on their way :?
arlutin Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Yeah i saw those too...not very confidence inspiring
amine Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Actually the berkeley rejection result may be for CS, indeed on the yuster website, there was 3 rejections from berkeley for PhD CS today.
LifeGoesOn Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 16:00 in Boston. Did anybody call? 17:10 - also today is over
madmax Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Why are you guys all so afraid to call? lol... I called, they said next week. But I guess thats just a tongue in cheek reply.
purplebird Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 lol... I called, they said next week. But I guess thats just a tongue in cheek reply. Well I have given up almost all hopes... BTW, I was wondering if anybody heard from Harvard DEAS for EE.
LifeGoesOn Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Ok, so this is the REAL REAL last day. We should see some rejections today, too.
arlutin Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Another day (perhaps the REAL REAL last day until tomorrow )... here is hoping we see some good news...
madmax Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Ok, so this is the REAL REAL last day. We should see some rejections today, too. I dont think EECS sends rejections through email usually. I called them up and was told that everybody was being sent official notifications by tomorrow through post. So, the decisions have already been made, and if it was positive, there is no reason we wouldn't have gotten an email by now. Which leads me to believe that we probably are going to end up with a few more no-activity days and then see a postal letter in the mailbox one fine day. I'm sad.
purplebird Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I just called eecs. They said most decisions are made and they will be mailed out next week. They can tell us the decisions next week thru phone once the decisions are in the mail. As madmax pointed out this is probably bad new- since we did not receive admit email they probably rejected us.
amine Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Well according to the result section, all MIT EECS results that were received by postal service were rejects, So forget totally about MIT, we are 100 % rejected
cantab Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Not sure about this. Someone has posted today in yuster as getting acceptance notification from MIT CS by mail on the 20th. I also called MIT today. The lady told me they email only few acceptance decisions, but most of them are sent by mail. Don't know how true it is. I can't believe none among us has been accepted (or even heard) by MIT EECS. At least, LifeGoesOn should get in.
madmax Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 The lady told me they email only few acceptance decisions, but most of them are sent by mail. Don't know how true it is. Yeah, I'm skeptical of that. Remember the RSVP date for open house? We are past that deadline now.
amine Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 One result was just added now: an MIT acceptance by postal service. I just hope that this was not a joke from someone who wants to paly with us
purplebird Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I just saw that somebody posted they got accepted in MIT for EE PhD by post today. Is it one of us? Congrats.
cantab Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Lol, I am really enjoying it. Even if someone truely gets accepted now, everyone will doubt that.
amine Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 cantab, have you posted this "fake" acceptance??
LifeGoesOn Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I can't believe none among us has been accepted (or even heard) by MIT EECS. At least, LifeGoesOn should get in. I really do hope you have inside sources at MIT that told you that. :? I think I have the average "qualifications" (pubs/recs/experience etc) for MIT, but unfortunately, I had the following disadvantages: 1) no outside funding 2) non-american, male, white (cuts 95% of possible fellowships) 3) did not have contacts with faculty before 4) possibly screwed up my SoP But it was surely worth a shot (and $80).
madmax Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I heard that the funding and admissions decisions are not made at the same time at MIT. I dont know if that is completely true, but if thats the case, then those points may not necessarily be disadvantages
arlutin Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 What is the number to the EECS grad office?
purplebird Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 What is the number to the EECS grad office? 617-253-4603
arlutin Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 As i suspected it is pretty much over... arlutin: have all decisions been made? nice lady: Yes, notifications will be mailed tomorrow. arlutin: have all the accepted been notified via email prior to the mailing? nice lady: Hrm...most of them have...Yes.
durlov Posted February 22, 2007 Author Posted February 22, 2007 arlutin, when you called the office, were they able to tell you anything concrete about your case?
