Fall 2016 Cognitive Psychology Applicants

Hey Everyone,

Although I am also applying to clinical psych and MA programs, I'm really set on entering a phd cog program. Just wondering if there are any others like me? :) Also, how did everyone narrow down their interests when writing the personal statement essays?

Hey there! I am applying to cog neuro labs (neuroimaging) so I end up applying to the cognitive psychology "sub-discipline"s for the most part :) Going for PhD programs only. Would love to hear from others as well :)

I'm also applying to programs in cognitive neuroscience.  My specific interests were partly informed by research I did in an undergraduate research course on cognition, and also by reading some potential mentors' research articles.

That's awesome, neuroimaging is always fascinating!  I hope we all get into our programs! :)

Same with mine but I'm really stuck between emotion/cognitive development in children and cognitive development/aging

Hmmm those are both interesting subjects.  If you feel like you enjoy both equally, you probably won't go wrong with either.  Personally, I want to study the interaction between emotion and cognitive processes, maybe with a focus on people with mood disorders.

Nice, my background is in development and educational psych so some of the labs I'm applying to have a developmental and/or lifespan angle with a focus on memory and learning. I'm so anxious for all my apps to be in already.
