hamster09 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I'm applying to the sciences and I'm quite surprised that Yale has a diversity statement which is separate from the statement of purpose and is optional. Is anyone filling them out? Are they also considered as a part of the application? How do separate diversity statements factor in admissions?
joro Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 The diversity statement is used to figure out funding for the student (Diversity Fellowship?). Since it is optional at Yale, I'm expecting it to be the same thing and used towards funding.

I had written them for California schools last year, and as best I could surmise they were only for funding considerations and had no effect on acceptance decisions.
