Most leasing options I've seen in Ann Arbor start in July or August. It's very much a college town, with most housing is intended for students (meaning places tend to be less flexible than in a big city, because most people need to move in before September and move out in June). Depending on what you're looking for, of course. If you don't mind (1) living outside of Ann Arbor or (2) spending a lot of money on rent, there are more flexible options.

Do you live in AA @DeputyDowner? We've started searching the area. Extremely worried about rental prices since I'm moving with a family

@MPPKS I don't, but I did live there for a summer in undergrad. Let me message you some places I've found in the area (online) that are more family convenient.

Show of hands for who is going to Spring Preview! I'll be there, so if anyone from the board wants to at least have someone to awkwardly make small chat with, then send me a message. I'm also trying to figure out the living situation - does anyone know if any grad students every just up and live in Detroit? A2 looks AWESOME, but that's some fierce rent, whereas there are obviously some bargains in the city. Thoughts? ETA: Anyone who is doing an apartment search and has good sources, share!

I'll be there too @obrien_blue! I'll message you separately. Anyone else attending?

I'd also be interested in a housing discussion (when to start looking, neighborhoods, groceries and etc.).

Anybody have first impressions of Spring Preview?

Hey, did you attend? I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on how it was (I'm an international student so I was unable to attend any of the Open Houses).

Also, folks still deciding on Ford, what other schools are you considering?

I was able to attend Spring Preview and I was thoroughly impressed with how well organized and informative it all was. I thought Ford did a great job highlighting their curriculum, career services office and other factors that differentiate Ford from peer policy schools. I found their staff, professors, current students and alumni all very accessible and eager to share their experiences. The Ford building and the surrounding campus is beautiful and I found downtown Ann Arbor to be quaint. It did snow while we were there, but that didn't bother me as much. I left Spring Preview feeling that Ford really does care about the success of its students and that school invests accordingly.

I am also considering Luskin, SIPA and Harris, but I think Spring Preview sealed the deal for me. Does anybody else have any thoughts?
