Hi all,

Wondering if anyone else is in this situation...

I applied to University of Toronto's History MA and my status on the website has been updated to "decision made" and apparently we will get further information via snail mail?! It's been 4 days and nothing in my mailbox yet.

I haven't seen any rejections or acceptances pop up on the board for the masters program in history at UofT but things are typically quieter for Canadian schools on gradcafe. This is the last place I'm waiting to hear from so I'm a bit impatient.

Thanks!

So far, I've had every single school contact me via e-mail so the only advice I can give is waiting for the postal service or contacting the department for more info.

Just call the graduate admissions office! They should be able to either tell you the admission decision, or advise you better!

I emailed the grad admissions office and got this lovely automated reply "Your message has been received and filed for future reading. Due to the high volume of messages received at this address, it may take a few days for a reply." I didn't want to bug the department assistant but I think I might...

I also applied to uoft for a masters in history and I'm in the same position as you. My status changed to "decision made" on Monday and I haven't received any e-mail or mail. It's so stressful!

Stephkd - thanks for the reply. I'm glad I'm not the only one in this situation. Hopefully we'll both hear soon. I broke down and emailed the department yesterday (not sure if I should have done that or not but I couldn't help myself) and didn't get a reply.

I thought about e-mailing the department as well! Hopefully they reply to you soon. I just want an answer from uoft so I can make my final decision on where to go. Hopefully I receive a letter in the mail today, fingers crossed!

Hey, yes I received an e-mail on Friday letting me know I've been admitted. The e-mail said I will be received an official letter in the mail shortly (still haven't received it).

Hey I have read your thread and I am wondering should I e-mail the schools?

I have not heard from 3/4 schools yet, I am getting worried that I may not get in anywhere!
Checking the portals daily for an update .... I have checked the feed on the acceptances so far and some have heard back early march!
I have confirmation emails to state my applications were received in January. And the portals say "no decision made yet", or "in progress"
Ahhhhh what are everyones thoughts on this?!

So Far:
March 14 I was rejected from Concordia For Masters in Art History
Waiting to hear back from:
Ryerson University for Film and photography Preservation and Collections Management, Masters
York University Art History Masters
University of Toronto For MVS Curatorial

Hey, there are a bunch of threads about whether or not to email departments asking for updates.

I needed to hear about Toronto because Concordia wanted me to make a decision by this Friday because if I don't take the spot they can offer my funding to another student.

I emailed Toronto asking for an update, and when I heard nothing for 4 days I assumed I was rejected. Then, yesterday, I got a short email from the grad assistant saying the department had recommended me for admission and I should get an official offer from the grad director by the end of next week.

Then Concordia emailed me telling me they were giving me an extension and I didn't need to decide until the first week of April, which is lovely as I'm waiting of SSHRC anyways.

Honestly, I don't think there is any harm in emailing, but it doesn't necessarily mean you're going to hear anything sooner. Toronto told me they were swamped in applications and were hoping to have the admissions cycle wrapped up by March 25th (which is late for them). However, that's just my department, yours is probably different.

Cheers!

Thanks for the response, it is helpful to hear other experiences during this process !
I am considering e-mailing the first week of April , I have read some information that after April 12 is when the deadline to accept funding is. Hoping for the best !!
