  1. Hey there! I replied to you on your thread "Applying to the OISE MT Program"!
  2. I wouldn't say you're out of the running yet. I believe they mostly look at your final year marks (although it wouldn't hurt to have a killer CGPA). I'd try to make sure your CGPA is as far above 3.0 by your final year, because it is in the end a graduate program and many grad programs like cutting off applications around 3.0. What are your grades actually like in science? That would be important to note. Ultimately, there are a lot of applications to the MT program and many are quite strong. As long as you have a B+ or so in Bio, I think you still have a chance for sure. Your experiences are pretty great! How many hours do you have in that high school classroom? Your TA is not a sufficient reference - you need a proper academic referee (a professor). The high school teacher is a great second reference! Your top priority, if you are serious about this application, is getting to know a professor in the next year, and then having them as your academic reference. OISE at U of T requires a professor familiar with you as a reference! I am only one person, however I did get accepted into OISE's MT program this year for I/S teachables English and History, and my husband got accepted at OISE as well for I/S for Mathematics and Physics. We at least have a small amount of experience with the program Please let me know if you have any other questions!
  3. From what I know, they do have a great Faculty of Education. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is their format for Practica - I believe you are only in-class in a placement one day per week, as opposed to being immersed in the school culture for a 4 week period, which is what OISE and some other colleges offer!
  4. Just call the graduate admissions office! They should be able to either tell you the admission decision, or advise you better!
  5. Thank you as well!!! I'm not too concerned with job prospects, just because I wouldn't mind if I had to supply teach for awhile. It's good work, albeit different than having your own full-time classroom! In terms of age, I'm 22 and my husband (who is going for the MT I/S program) is 23!
  6. For mine it showed up right on the home page where it goes when you sign in. It previously said "no registration history", but then it changed to invited! Some people's statuses also say financially cancelled, which also means they are invited just that their offer is conditional on their completion of an in-progress degree!!
  7. I'm not sure if they would still consider you for anything else? I'd call them tomorrow at some point and ask for sure! I'm not sure thegradcafe.com is the best source Just call the MT admissions department! Out of curiosity, what was your application like? Like GPA/experiences?
  8. Hey! I called and asked about that because my husband's status said that too - it basically means that your offer is conditional, because your degree(s) are still in progress! But it still means you are accepted!
  9. They have done their first round of admissions I believe! A whole bunch of us were notified around March 1st that our application status had changed through an email and on ROSI!
  10. Are you sure it's 100%?? I heard that basically the invited status needs to be confirmed by the Registrar's office before admissions are mailed out?? Maybe I'm joyfully wrong
  11. Absolutely! One of my undergraduate professors told me that in Canada, U of T is the best place to get a Master's degree simply for the resources and support - it is unparalleled!
  12. Yep! I actually did a double major in my teachable subjects and graduated with first class honours - while I don't think it's necessary, I don't think it hurts an application!!!
  13. ahhh understood. U of T does have one of the best (in my opinion the best) faculties of education though, so for me my choice is still 100% made!
  14. It sounds like you have great experiences! Your grades sound great, were your first 3 years just as strong? It seems so strange that you haven't heard back from either program!! My application to the MT program was basically: - 3.9ish major GPA - 3.7ish CGPA - 300+ hours of experience in high school classrooms - registered tutor with my undergrad university - private tutor for a student on the autism spectrum - volunteer work at a daycare center I did receive an email from the MT department recommending me to the program a few days ago, so hopefully that means I will see a letter in a week or so!
  15. Out of curiosity, what did your application look like? In terms of experience/GPA etc. I also applied to the MT program!
  16. Sorry this is the first I'm hearing of this... so is the MT program actually a Masters program at all? Or just a BEd program that does more research? How could it not be considered as an A4 pay level?
  17. So the title says it all.... what sort of questions are important to ask? I have a list I've compiled of my own questions (maybe 15-20 in total), but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything and am wholly prepared for this event. What sorts of experiences have you had? Any essential questions?
  18. To revise this, I received the email about being recommended into the program, as well as the Meet and Greet scheduled for next week. My status on ROSI/ACORN also switched to "invited". Also, I was accepted into the BEd programs at Queen's, York, and Brock!
  19. I did as well, as did my husband (we are both applicants to the MT program!). See you at the meet and greet!
  20. I also just got accepted into the I/S program at OISE in their MT program! I got accepted at York, Brock, and Queen's as well for their BEd program!
  21. Hi Artsy, Thank you so much for your comment! Tomorrow I will contact both schools and see where the chips fall. Also, I love how you clarified the "mutual agreement" for all the US applicants - I hope it helps some people find peace/calm in this stressful time!!!
  22. I'm in Canada actually, and there is no such united deadline agreement. This is made more complicated by the fact that I'm applying for a graduate program in education, as well as bachelors programs in education. The graduate program is unique in what it offers to future teachers, hence my desire to attend that school. They have a completely different timeline of admissions and such because it is a grad program, so they know there is overlap and that some of their applicants are in a difficult position timeline-wise. This is why I think it might be okay for me to call?
  23. So basically, one of the schools I've been accepted to (which is my second choice, but a distant second), accepted me into my program of choice. Which is wonderful, except their offer expires this Friday. My goal school/program won't give out official acceptances until at least mid-march, although the word is that they may have already decided on their applicants. I spoke to someone in their office about 1.5 weeks ago who was lovely and could possibly help me figure out whether I can let my other offer expire, or whether I'd better accept it. Should I call that person and as about my application? Is 1.5 weeks too soon/would it be perceived as annoying? I know this is such a busy time for them, but I'm in such a tight spot. Basically, my second choice program begins soon and I would need to move 3-4 hours away, so getting a place to live would become the utmost priority. All of your insight is so greatly appreciated.
