Degree in Therapy/counseling Psychology

I am struggling to decide what school/program I should look for that will give me a degree to do therapy and counseling. For the longest time I planned on getting a degree in clinical psychology, but realized how competitive this degree is, especially in North Carolina. I am asking you all for recommendation on degree and schools where I could get a masters degree in some sort of counseling or therapy. Thank you, advice is greatly appreciated.

I work as a therapist in an outpatient clinic. I have a masters in social work. Some of my colleagues are LPCs (Licensed Professional Counselor) which I think requires a masters in counseling. I know some people who are LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), but they seem to be less common in my area. I think there are specific marriage and family counselor programs for that.

I'm not sure if you're looking to stay in North Carolina, but if you're open to moving, New Orleans has 4 different universities that offer Counseling degrees. UNO offers a MEd in counseling and I believe you can choose a focus of either school or clinical mental health counseling with their program; I did my undergrad there and had a great experience with them. Loyola and Our Lady of Holy Cross both offer an MA/MS in counseling, but I'm don't know too much about either program. LSU Health Sciences Center offers a MHS in Clinical Rehabilitation & Counseling and has an RSA grant if you are looking for a program with a scholarship/funding- this program was the best fit for me and I am starting in the fall. LSU's program also extended the deadline for applications this year, so they are still accepting applications for this fall. I think the fall deadlines for all of the other programs have passed. I'm sending you links to all of the schools in case you're interested. Good luck!
