Hi I'm now in the process of submitting my application and, naturally, I'm submitting all the transcripts from all the universities that I've ever attended - including the one from a semester -long exchange program abroad with an F in one of the courses. This grade does not count towards my GPA, nor will it appear on my final official transcript. My GPA is 4.0 and I'm expected to graduate summa cum laude.
My question is the following: should I disclose this grade once again when asked on the application: "Have you ever received a failing grade, been placed on academic probation, been part of an academic hearing or been dismissed from any school?" The phrasing makes me uneasy, as it makes a failing grade look tantamount to serious academic misconduct.I'm worried that if I answer "yes", my application will be automatically flagged and my chances of admission will be ruined.
Do you think I should still answer "yes", even if this grade appears on my transcript and my recommender agreed to explain it in his letter?
