eseteacher Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Hello, I am in the process of finishing my applications. I am nervous and unsure if the time and effort I put in will result in acceptance of schools. Communication Sciences and Disorders Major: My undergraduate GPA: 3.2/3.2 (overall) GRE: 145/145/4.5 (verbal/quantitative/writing, respectively) Master's in Exceptional Student Education K-12 (special education): Graduate gpa: 4.0 gpa (I worked hard to earn a Master's) Experiences/work/volunteer: Special education teacher, transitioning students with disabilities into a university, working with international students. Endorsements English of Speakers with Other Languages (ESOL), Reading, and an Autism Certificate. Additionally, I have three teaching certifications. My issue, in my opinion, is my GRE and GPA. I have my Letter of Intent finished and have my recommendations in. Do I have a strong enough resume to qualify for a speech program or should I be discouraged by it? Is there anything else I can do to strengthen my chances by January?
The Dark knight Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 If I am being honest, I would say, maybe take the GRE again. 145/145/4.5 is not enough for any good graduate program. Your best shot would be if you can get 155/150/4.5 or something like that. I am sorry, but that is the reality.
Crimson Wife Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 Are you applying to schools that look at the last 60 credits? I would focus on those since your master's GPA is strong.
