Clinpsyc01 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 (edited) I submitted an application for a graduate program, but my POI just told me that she has decided not to take a student after all. I know it happens sometimes, I'm just conflicted about what to do now. The faculty at this school have pretty disparate interests, so she was really the only person in my area. I'm thinking I'll finish my application and submit my SoP, etc. since I've already paid and I like the program, but I don't know. The school very strongly recommends contacting potential supervisors in advance, and I can't really contact someone new before Thursday. What would you do? Do you think it would be weird to ask her to recommend someone else? Thanks in advance for any replies Edited November 27, 2016 by hsrnl
BeezKnees Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 I don't think it'd be a bad idea to ask her if she's aware of anyone else with similar interests to her that may be taking students. Alternatively, take a look at all of the profs that are taking students and read over a couple of their most recent publications. It will give you a better idea of their current research interests and you can see if any of them even remotely link to your interests. Jay's Brain and Piagetsky 2
