I've applied to six school in this cycle, 3 already rejected me.

The remaining 3 are UC Davis BMCDB,  UCSD BIOLOGY and UPenn CAMB cancer biology, and I haven't received any interview invitation from them...

I am just wondering if anyone have been admitted without interview before?? Or should I just assume that all my applications are doomed..

from what i heard it's rare to get accepted without interview, but keep in mind that they might have a different processing time for international students. I would remain hopeful but prepare for the worst.

Two of the programs to which I've applied (allegedly) sent out interview invites today, and I didn't get one. :(  I'm going to go ahead and consider them rejections.

So if you guys don't get an interview invite, are you going to check with your POI just to make sure? When I skyped with mine back in November she made it sound like I would almost certainly get in, but I know that interview invites for my program went out last week :( Is it tacky to send some kind of status-check email directly to your POI instead of the coordinator?

Personally I think it depends on the field and area and department you are applying to. I believe only few people have the experience of applying to several different departments/fields, so each person could tell an entirely different story. Even in the same field or area, different universities make decisions based on a set of different stuffs. So the best indicator is not to ask randomly about what other people is thinking, but rather to check previous results of the university and department you are applying to. If they interviewed candidates before admission last year then it is likely to be the case this year

I myself is waiting for interview invitations, though.

I received my first admission ten days ago without an interview, and I didn't get a reply from my POI. But it might be different for different programs. Besides, I don't think it's wise to contact professors directly for interviews unless he/she has replied to you with a positive answer.
