How Obsessed with the News are YOU?

  1. 1. How much time do you spend, daily, interacting with some form of news media (newspaper, blogs, TV news, radio, etc.), or discussing the news with friends or colleagues?

It would seem to me that people going into Policy or Government are likely to be among the more news-obsessed segments of the population.

Given that I have two small kids and a demanding job, the hour or more I spend (waste?) a day on newspapers and blogs represents almost all of my free time. What about you?

I am all about the news. My homepage is Google news, and the first three sites I visit every web session are BBC News, NY Times (international edition), and CNN. I don't really know why, but for me it's very important to be up to date to what's going on in the country and the world.

Definitely obsessed. I actually use an add-on for Firefox that displays a scrolling ticker of random stories from my sundry RSS feeds. I'm also usually reading several political blogs and discussion boards if I'm on the computer. Needless to say, I've done a fair bit of reading on Citizens United v. FEC today.

been a news junkie since third grade. yeah i know that is odd. I spend at least 2/hrs per day catching up on news in many different subject areas. Election year news cycles (2006, 2008, 2010...)are worse for me though.

A more interesting take on this poll would be to see where people here get their news. Major network television, newspaper, internet, alternative media, radio, and so on.

Being a journalist/newspaper copy editor, I spend a bare minimum of 9 hours a day absorbing, editing, sourcing or writing news. And that's just at work, then there's the stuff I read for fun. :)
