I found out today i was waitlisted by two of my favorite schools... I've been rejected by one and I have an interview with another. I'm just beside myself. I wanted to go to the one school so badly, it was everything i ever wanted.

Hey cheer up mate.

The admissions process has some random elements to it, and as such, rejection should not be taken personally. As you said, you got an interview, which is an accomplishment right there!

Rejection is a natural part of pushing yourself, so don't feel disheartened that something doesn't work out, just keep pushing until something does.

Hope you feel better with time.

I agree with @kreid415. If you take every rejection in life personally, you'lol go crazy! Rejection is such a natural part of life- a sucky part, but a part all the same. Any interview is a huge accomplishment. To be waitlisted is a huge accomplishment. It means you are seen as a worthy candidate! You are not an applicant- you are a candidate. Even if it doesn't work out this time around, the only thing to keep you from trying again is you.

The way I see it, if I end up getting rejected from the school of my dreams, then maybe it isn't the school for me. I want to go to a school where I really fit in with the students, faculty, and program as a whole. I would take a rejection as an indication that this school might not be the best fit for me.

I guess my best advice is: don't give up! You'll find your place and you'll do great there, even if it's not where you originally thought you'd end up.
