I've seen several people on here talk about how no news means you've still got skin in the game so I would maintain hope! I'm in a holding pattern myself at the moment, but I also applied to very few programs so I'm starting to make plans on what to do if the hammer drops and I'm left holding the bag (errr the rejection letter). I know waiting is the literal worst but try to stay positive! As long as you haven't received a rejection that means an acceptance could still come. Perhaps you're in their second wave of acceptances and they're waiting to figure out how funding will work out.

Hope everyone is doing alright! Has anyone received any good news as of late? Any other interviews happen yet? Sending good vibes to you all.

-You start looking into alternatives because you're not sure if you can survive at your current job for another year. -You make excuses to not commit to a cruise that your parents are offering to pay for in December because "that might be finals week". -You have practice interviews in your head that are way better than the actual interviews you gave. -You go hunting for Pokémon not necessarily because you're a nerd (even though you are) but because you can't go checkingbyoir email when you're catching a Chansey. -You secretly make a voodoo doll for that friend of yours that got into the grad school of their dreams on their first try and tell you that they don't understand why you haven't gotten in yet.

It's not some intentional form of torture. While it's easy to imagine admissions committees sitting around a table plotting and laughing maniacally as they spin a large wheel for how long we'll have to wait...it's moreso that there are myriad of factors that go into the decision making process. Waiting is a major part of theatre- waiting to hear about callbacks, waiting to hear about casting, waiting to hear about directing offers, waiting for reviews. And I've learned from that that waiting isn't some twisted mind game of manipulation and evilness. It's not a newfangled torture technique. People have lives and have to spend weeks and possibly months going through the red tape to reach decisions. It is what it is I think! Also. I have never taken the GRE and I love the word perturbed! I use it often.

Heard from fellow applicants this weekend that Northwestern, Irvine, and UCSD invites have gone out. Sorry, friends. Hope everyone's hanging in there! Looks like we're nearing the end for better or worse til rejects do us part.

A waitlist? For the callback weekend or for the program in general? I figured they would waitlist from their callback weekend.

...so, uh anyone hear anything from Brown? Bueller?

Welcome back @Loose.tap.screws! Thanks for the updates! I'll be in the same group as you at DePaul this Saturday- looking forward to it! I unfortunately can't stay for the dinner and show but I know it'll be great. I also think that Erin is a third-year. She was in tech when I was up there a couple weeks ago and the second-years are Jacob and Michael.

Also officially received my Yale rejection letter. Ah, well. Hope someone from here lands an invite to the callback weekend!

Has anyone had their DePaul interview yet? Looks like San Francisco was last weekend and New York was back in January. Wanted to see how it went! Sorry about the rejection, @Boseph16- hope you're still riding high with the Iowa acceptance!

I know we're smack dab in the middle of admissions offers going out, interviews being scheduled, and anxiety running amuck. Thought this could be a fun way to commiserate. Start a rolling list of those crazy things we do and schedules we keep while in the height of admissions season. I'm knee deep in interviews and traveling right now so here are a few of mine: You know it's admissions season when... - You keep an elaborate chart of what you can say to get time off from your muggle job to make the interviews happen. - Hotwire knows you by name and keeps suggesting trips to your grad school cities. - Hearing your email notification go off is literally causing you to have miniature heart attacks. - You debate back and forth between needing a hotel for one more night when your flight takes off first thing in the morning and it'll take you at least an hour to get there....and then regret not getting one as you sleep on the very cold tile of the airport and hang out in the bathroom for an uncomfortably long time because it': the only working outlet you could find. Perhaps you fall asleep in there- but you don't admit it because that's a little too weird. - You know all the coolest airport bars to hang out in because you're always in an airport (hello delays) and you're forever in need of a drink (why haven't they contacted me yet?!) - You find yourself wondering if your POI will issue a restraining order if you email just one more time...

It also really depends on application deadlines, the school, and your particular program.

I had an interview last Saturday and an interview today. Third one scheduled for this upcoming Saturday. Still waiting to hear about first round interviews from my fourth school I applied to (they had a much later application deadline) and I should hear about callback weekends within a week about the two I've already interviewed with.

Congrats @Boseph16! And to you @Directorial! @galbi7892 is right in saying that THAT is a huge accomplishment. And Boseph, I think you should trust your gut. Sounds like Iowa could bring you a lot of fulfillment. Just finished my interview at Brown and got to meet @steffybolt in person. Sounds like this could be an exciting week of news for everyone. Hot honey lemon water is a natural detox and energizer. It will work- unless you have a citrus allergy of some sort.

Drink hot honey lemon water, increase vitamins and supplements (coconut oil, echinacea, vitamin C and garlic are all good ones). Two weeks is plenty of time to bounce back. But if you feel like crud the day before (or the day before you leave if travel is involved) go to the doctor and puppy dog eye them into giving you a steroid shot. Also sleep.

I haven't heard anything from UCSD. Last I heard was they were still reviewing applications.

@steffybolt have you heard from any of your other programs since your last update?

@AgentMike I don't want to get your hopes up but there was quite a gap between when @steffybolt and I got our invitations for the finalist weekend at DePaul. So if they're still reviewing apps, then you might still have reason to stay optimistic!

Congratulations @nine15am! It sounds like you're having a really successful round of applications! And you met with Melissa? That's interesting and good to know. Where did you have your audition if you don't mind my asking? Those are some rather interesting questions! Some I haven't heard before. Though I have to say that it's seeming pretty common that people don't want to see our portfolios. Which makes sense in an interview if they're just trying to gauge if they have a good conversation with us and if it's a conversation they want to keep having for three years. The how did you prepare for this moment is an interesting one. Did she mean like prepare to apply for grad school? Or the moment of sitting in the room interviewing with her?

It was said that Yale's callback weekend would be the end of February too and they're just starting to wrap up first round interviews. And Yuri won't even be back in New Haven to discuss applicants for a few more days because he's visiting with his family while in Chicago. Looking at previous timelines, it looks like people got about 7-10 days to make the trip happen from the call to the callback weekend. So it wouldn't surprise me if CMU came early next week for an invitation. Who knows though. It's all shrouded in mystery. Glad to hear you're keeping busy @Boseph16! I'm acting in something right now and have another show opening soon and I'm prepping to start on my next directing project. And yet here I am...clicking and refreshing...

Does that mean URTA offers will be going out soon? That's so exciting! This month is going to be a doozy, for sure! What's everyone doing to stay busy?
