  1. Looking at previous timelines and what we've heard from programs this year, the next two weeks should result in lots of anxiety and hopefully lots of good news! @BSBDirector I don't have any insights on CMU- although from previous threads, it seemed they weren't always that great about communicating in a timely manner? It could have been a fluke of a single year though. Fingers crossed, friends!
  2. @Actress89 what conservatory and which two programs? I know URTAS are tough. It's easy to have visions of hundreds of callbacks dancing in your head. But much like auditioning and getting cast- you only need one yes at a time!
  3. @rheya19 yes exactly that! Tell your husband that he needs to go buy puppies if he wants to live!
  4. Might I suggest drinking and Netflix? Also like...eleven puppies to cuddle?
  5. I think in this instance it would be reasonable to contact them and ask about the status update.
  6. @Boseph16 sounds like you made the right decision for yourself in regards to UCLA. UCSD should be reaching out in the next week or two! @AgentMike the day I can perform a 20 page monologue in 90 seconds is the day I break the time barrier. It'a for a show I'm working on here at home. Don't have Brown for a little bit longer! Looking forward to it though- I'm excited about the monologue I finally settled on for it. How's everyone else holding up? How are interviews going? We're in the thick of it now!
  7. I haven't gotten to that stage...yet, @KillerWingfield. I also have a twenty page monologue to memorize that's keeping me preoccupied.
  8. Thank you @Boseph16! It was an interesting, engaging conversation. I was told the same thing about finding out something hopefully next week, if not then definitely the week after. And now...we wait. Glad I have prep work for Brown and DePaul to keep my mind occupied.
  9. @Boseph16 that is amazing! I am so happy for you. I hope I feel that awesome after mine. I wish I had a "warm up" interview of sorts instead of starting off with Yale right out of the gate. But it sounds like Yuri is the perfect person to talk to. Now...I know that they said we don't need to bring anything. Did that ring true? What about you @steffybolt?
  10. Oh wow, that was a while ago! Did you interview on campus? I'm excited to meet with Yuri. What are your thoughts on what to bring portfolio wise to Brown and DePaul? Do you have your monologue picked and prepped yet? I definitely feel you on that crazy schedule! Good vibes to everyone in the coming weeks. Things are happening!
  11. @Boseph16 Pretty sure your Yale interview is today! Sending you luck and hope you'll report in and let us know how it is! @steffybolt Have you had your Yale interview yet? If so, how did it go? If not, when are you scheduled?
  12. @clarwyn you'll know when you're meant to know! I am totally a hypocrite about this because I obsessively check this forum and refresh my email, but when I find myself jumping down the rabbit hole, I close out of everything and make myself focus on the present. What good would it do to find out half asleep when I can't fully celebrate? What good would it do to find out at work where no one knows I'm applying? I can't force the letter to come faster by refreshing. The world brings us news when we're ready to handle it- good, bad, or indifferent.
  13. On a thread that I stalked last year, everyone say that the feedback they give you at DePaul is super intense and honest. But it's great if you're open to it. That's essentially my impression and why I'm excited for it.
  14. Welcome @galbi7892! Happy you found the group. Sounds like you have an interesting and diverse group of schools you applied for! Our only commonality is DePaul so I won't be much help. You may also be able to check the results pages to gauge when people have heard from certain programs in previous years, though I will say the directing group tends to do a great job of updating fellow applicants through the forum instead. Sorry to hear that Virginia Tech is havinh site issues! I actually wonder if school servers struggle to keep up with the hoards of applicants constantly checking on their status this time of year....not that we would do that, of course....
  15. @SEAsianInternational something that really helped me was reminding myself that an acceptance wouldn't disappear if I didn't click it the moment it came to my inbox. And I'm trying to remind myself that a watched pot never boils. I haven't gotten to the admissions portion of application season, but the two interviews I've landed were when I had finally allowed myself to stop thinking about it. It's so hard not to click that refresh button- but try to remember that any emails aren't going anywhere. And you want to be awake and alert enough to celebrate when good news comes your way!
  16. Have you checked the results page? I'm not in your field, but you usually gauge response windows from previous years.
  17. @Marshall that suuuuuuucks. I can't even imagine! As your doctor, I highly suggest you take two (or three) drinks and don't check your email again until morning.
  18. I agree with @kreid415. If you take every rejection in life personally, you'lol go crazy! Rejection is such a natural part of life- a sucky part, but a part all the same. Any interview is a huge accomplishment. To be waitlisted is a huge accomplishment. It means you are seen as a worthy candidate! You are not an applicant- you are a candidate. Even if it doesn't work out this time around, the only thing to keep you from trying again is you.
  19. @Coffeelover27 fellowships have been a godsend to several of my friends! I always wish I would have gone the fellowship route. Amazing experience and great resume boosters. I didn't get a single bite my first time applying a few years ago and it was the best thing that could have happened to me. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for you!
  20. @KillerWingfield I have a few friends applying for graduate programs in acting. They're bemoaning the process and I researched up on them. The deadlines are all typically later than directing programs (usually after January 1), they're guaranteed an audition (usually late January/early February) and for most programs, figure out their chances based on whether or not they get a callback the same day! I did the math...it typically ends up being about 6-8 weeks total from application to audition to acceptance for them...and I can't help but grumble a little under my breath as they wax poetic about the torture of waiting. And none of them know I applied so they keep telling me "ugh you just don't understand! This wait is grueling!" Meanwhile, I would commit some serious crimes if it meant I could get that sort of turnaround on knowing where I stood!
  21. Hi @Coffeelover27 welcome to the club! I believe @Directorial got an interview nod from Iowa a couple weeks ago and applied directly instead of through URTA. Here's hoping you still get good news but I also don't want you to get your hopes up. I haven't heard much about Umass so I'm not sure what to tell you there. Just keep your head up! It's not over til every last acceptance and reject letter go out. Did you apply anywhere else? Do you have any other interviews lined up?
  22. Same here in regards to UCSD. A friend reached out to them though! They're still reviewing applications and it will be another week or two before they make contact for interviews. Man- I've spent some time on the waiting it out section of this forum and I have to admit I get a bit jealous of those who have already received admits. I know it's the nature of our program, but I feel like we have some of the earliest deadlines and the longest wait times with a heck of a lot of ups and downs in the middle with interviews, callback weekends and everything else. I'm in limbo right now- I know it's too early to expect hearing anything from UCSD and my first interview for the season is on Saturday. I fortunately have things to actively prepare for and should appreciate the lull in "waiting to hear" but I'm still restless thinking about all of it. Any of you guys interview with Brown yet?
  23. @KillerWingfield congrats on a great interview with Iowa! Sorry East 15 was a bust. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for Iowa and Amherst!
