Markdeejohnsonomaha Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Heyo, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with receiving admissions results either after 5pm in the school's time, or over the weekend. I have a hard time imagining they'd be working on this during non-official hours, but maybe I'm wrong. tl:dr, is it worth it to check my email over the weekend or in the evening? thanks
RazaXo Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 I got an acceptance from SDSU at 8pm, but other than that, It's been during office hours.
DBear Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Judging from what people have said here, it does happen.
fuzzylogician Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Yep, it happens. Especially when you're dealing with unofficial emails from POIs, those could come at any time. (Although it's less likely than during business hours). That said, taking some time off and not obsessively checking your email is a good thing. An acceptance email will still be there Monday morning. magicsana and DBear 2
GeorgeC07 Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 If it's posted on the application portal and the system sends you a notification by email, you'll probably get that email during working hours or a little bit longer after that, since the system might take some time to process that order. This also applies to situations where the email is sent by a staff member of the graduate office or departmental coordinator since they usually don't work overtime. As for POI, things could be totally different, but they usually give you a day or two to respond to their emails. So taking some time off during the weekends should be good, and that's what I'm gonna do. Now I only check my emails after waking up in the morning.
