Haven't heard from these schools yet (besides Yale). I know it's only Feb. 10th but maybe some painting people already heard from schools? I'm not coping so well with this waiting game.

Congrats on your interview! I am sooo jealous.....I have not heard anything at all from SAIC (painting dept or printmedia). No letter or anything. *sigh*

I'm getting worried about SAIC too! Do you think it means we're out if we haven't heard anything and people are getting interviews? ...or do you think they even interview everybody? :/

I'm not sure, honestly. I think if we don't hear in a few days, it may mean we're out :( but who knows. I thought maybe it was because I live in Oregon that it made the difference in mail travel but the person that said they got an interview via USPS is from Seattle. So I've got a bad feeling... oh well though. Six other schools if SAIC says no.

I'm getting worried too. But so far, I've only seen 1 person (from Seattle) who got an interview from SAIC here (in the painting dept). I live in San Francisco and I still haven't gotten anything in the mail..I wonder if they send the rejection letters and the interview letters at the same time. I think they should. It's cruel to make people who didn't make it wait much longer. Then we could move on with our lives. I'm already thinking of reapplying for next fall..But it's probably too soon to think this way.

Crayons, what schools did you apply to?

I'm also curious if this year is people's first time or second time of applying? It's my first. I took a year off to work on my portfolio after I got my BFA. How long did you guys take a break for?

I applied to:

Yale--rejected via website 2/5

MICA Hoffberger--

CCA--

CalArts--

This is my first year applying too. Haven't heard from the other 3 schools yet. My list is pretty small, so hoping to at least get in somewhere!

No news is good news, right?

Hello Alizarin and Crayons (and everyone)--

It's my second year applying for painting programs; another year certainly made a big difference for me in the application process. I had more time to develop my work and was able to more clearly articulate why I wanted to pursue the MFA. (Whether it makes a difference in acceptances, of course, remains to be seen!) I was waitlisted at one school last year but did not get in.

It's a painful process, no doubt. Best wishes to all--

SMFA: interview 3/6

I've been out of art school since May 2005, regularly showing my work around Portland and the country. I feel like my portfolio is pretty solid at this point but who knows... time will tell I guess! My first time applying to schools... not sure I could handle a second round! This waiting thing is for the birds!

Hey guys, did anyone else hear from SAIC yet??

I haven't gotten any letters or any news yet (except for that impersonal rejection from Yale on their website, but that's old news).

The only things I get are a bunch of repetitive reminders to apply for financial aid. Is everyone getting a lot of these emails and flyers too? Does this even matter? Ughh..anything but silence..I can't imagine feeling this way until April.

I applied to painting and printmedia. What about you?

I applied to printmedia. I've heard of people getting interviews/rejections for painting already, but I don't know anyone else whose applied to printmedia.

i did too! blah for sure.

I noticed you asked about CCA. I haven't heard from them either. I called and asked if they interview qualified applicants, and I asked if I am basically rejected if I wasn't offered an interview yet. They said, that is not the case. They only interview you if there is something questionable about your work or something. I don't know if this goes for all the departments, but I asked about painting.
