rj2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 (edited) In the mentioned post on gradcafe, one of the users said that PhD applicants who got rejected but have opted to be considered for Masters get a lower priority than those who opted for masters. Can anyone confirm whether this is true or not. I was assuming that they would be given the same priority as usual MS applicants. I am aiming to apply for MS programs to eventually get into good PhD programs and am planning to apply for PhD wherever I will be reconsidered for MS programs on reject. Hence it's crucial to know if there is any difference in treatment of such applications. Thanks in advance !! Edited November 19, 2017 by rj2017 Additional details
TheMostPowerfulApplicant Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 Honestly, unless you are an amazing applicant, it is probably better if you just apply to MS only. Stanford CS is extremely competitive for PhD.
