  1. I'm in the States, so it should come as a cheque in the mail. Still nothing. I see last year, some award holders in the USA had received theirs on Aug 15.
  2. Has anyone received their first payment yet (Doctoral SSHRC)? When can we expect them?
  3. Got my SSHRC letter this morning (Toronto). Doctoral CGS! I'll be attending an American university for my PhD however, so what is the process to downgrade to the regular SSHRC? I assume that doing so automatically grants you the 20k for 4 years? Also, I've heard conflicting reports on whether or not one can get the third installment of the MA CGS if the MA program is only 8 months. Some say if you're going directly into a PhD then you can claim the third installment. Does this only apply for Canadian PhDs, or can I get that third installment even though I'm going to the USA in August/September? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks, and congrats/good luck to everyone.
  4. I wouldn't worry too much, but you may want to go through a math for econ book like Fundamental Methods of Mathematical Economics by Chiang and Wainwright. It'll take you through all of the calculus, linear algebra, optimization and differential equation stuff you'll need for an MA in Econ, plus refresh some of your intuition along the way.
  5. So if you have won the MA SSHRC, and are entering an 8-month MA program (Sept - April at the U of T), what is the payment structure? Do you get the full 17500, or just 2/3rds of it? Anyone had a similar experience?
  6. I got both my OGS and SSHRC results on friday. Successful for both! So, I'll be turning down the OGS. Hope it goes to someone else on gradcafe! Finally, I don't have to refresh the forums every 5 minutes looking for results
