  1. Big cong on USC btw. Manuel Castells is there!
  2. Thanks anthropologygeek, this is very insightful. However, I do wonder if all schools use the interviews the same way. I've been interviewed for two schools up till now for this cycle. It appears to me that the UCI interview fits well with what you just said - it was just a 15 min "chit-chat" kind of thing. However, the Harvard interview is all about "we want to know more about your SOP" and it could get quite intense, meaning that it involves questions that I do not have very good answers for (although it was only 15 minutes-ish). And the upcoming MIT HASTS interview looks even more intense (30-45 minutes) and we are supposed to get to know our applications very well.
  3. Good luck with the rest of the schools. I think I'm pretty set to go to Chicago at this point.
  4. Don't lose hope! Schools send out different rounds of application letters. Best wishes for your Madison program. Yeah, Columbia is kinda notoriously bad for funding Master's programs. Well, hope things work out for you in the end.
  5. I've updated the schools in my signature. I'm an international student studying in the U.S. so I don't expect to get money generally. What's your top choice?
  6. It was in the email. They mentioned it right after the decision. I don't know if I will go yet. I got into Columbia Regional Studies -East Asia, but with no money. I will wait until all my results come out. It's weird that Columbia asks for replies before March 5th, way ahead of most schools' decisions come out.
  7. Yep I got into UCLA's East Asian Studies too, with some funding. Are you thinking about going?
  8. I got into Columbia RSEA Master and also LSE Ms China in Comparative Perspectives. My focus will be contemporary China, anthropology/sociology and I plan to do a PHD degree after my master. Anyone has any thoughts on these two programs?
  9. Guys, you've all turned in the application?
  10. Thanks sweetpolaris. I've posted there!
