It wont affect them. It shows interest. Just a simple 2 sentence should suffice. Just ask has there been an update on my status as of yet and thats it. and CC the graduate secretary and you will get an answer

Rejected at Albany. Weak Fit and it seemed like they were one of the schools who wanted people with a MA first.

And this is why you will be successful. You have the right attitude.

Could go two ways. You could either raise your market value by letting them know that you are desirable. Or you can screw yourself by showing them that if they dont accept you, you have other options. I think its more 1 than 2. I have done this with schools, and it raises my market value.

I read in a book...I forgot the title, it was something like Why Smart People Fail in Graduate School or something like that, it echoed the same thing. Your intellect isnt going to help you when you have 100's of pages to read a week + teach a class + research...persistence is what is going to get you through

Unless you have previous experience, I would be wary of a degree like this. Its going to run you probably 100k all in when most entry level media jobs pay 50-60k...Which means about 3500 dollars a month for 2000 a month loan payments.
