http://huhousing.offcampuslisting.com/ This looks super useful in terms of apartment hunting. Padmapper too. And I bet we can all swing deals from graduating HGSE people. Oh, and CQE: you are quite welcome!

They did give out some information about financial aid. Basically, what I gleaned was this: 1) assistantships are almost never given out to master's students; only to PhD students 2) there is some merit-based aid, but it isn't a huge amount (depends on the program) 3) most need-based aid is federal aid (or: loans) I got a merit-based scholarship, but I decided to go with another school. I hope this helped a bit though!

I want to get my mom a Harvard one too She told me she found a Harvard Mom mug somewhere online. Oh, wow. They have stuff for the whooole family. http://dft.ba/-hahvahd

Haaaa, my friends and I have had a blast chortling at some of the Harvard merchandise around the various shops. Like the CLASSY (but totally impractical for me and out of my price range) briefcase. I think I just want the HGSE tee first... I will go crazy with Harvard apparel once I get up to Cambridge for Admitted Students Weekend though! I think I racked up about ten free t shirts from various things in undergrad... they're my favorite. I hope I get some free fun HGSE tees during my year there too!

Yay! Glad to hear you're going with HGSE. I'll be at the Open House too! Soo excited. Southwest has some cheapsy cheapsy deals right now, y'all. I am looking for places with a friend from undergrad and we're just putting feelers for more roomies and a place to live out there - message me if you know of any apartments that open up mid-summer, haha! HAHAHA this will be my plan

That does sound like an amazing deal! I'm probably going to look for some sort of off-campus housing. I might still apply for grad housing just in case, but I'm pretty fresh out of undergrad and balk at living in a dorm after four years of dorms. But whatever works, right? Hugs. Lots of hugs.

How's everyone doing?
-
YES! I've been rooting for you and was hoping you'd get some good news. Congratulations!!!
-
I think just by the end of March.
-
Haha... I submitted my deposit. The acceptance video convinced me enough... Not that I needed much convincing.
-
I am so proud of all of you. You are all amazing people who are going to do incredible things no matter what.
-
I AM IN SHOCK Accepted! I was just doing the dishes, and my mom (who stalks this forum sometimes) told me letters were in and I almost broke a plate. I almost broke a few plates. And then the good news was delivered. So excited and relieved.
-
Ahh... That gives a little more weight to the maybe-Tuesday theory, then. I didn't realize the EdLD decisions hadn't gone out yet. Ah well! In some ways I've just shrugged off the stress... But I'm also eating chocolate right now so maybe my outlook seems brighter.

So many exciting things happening for our GradCafe corner... Congrats ASzofer! So excited for you. You're going to make an incredible difference no matter what! Students from the past few years have actually found out after 4:30! DanMcD posted that they found out at 6:23 last year. So who knows? I think Friday at 6 PM is the smartest time they could send it out, haha. Does anyone know if HGSE closed early today?

Travel safe, Loseric

You should probably change your avatar to Ms. Black then. (is that song really TWO YEARS OLD? was it really so quickly supplanted by Call Me Maybe and Somebody that I Used to Know? what will be this year's big thing?)
-
I do think tomorrow late afternoon is a big contender, if only because it's a Friday! Give us the weekend to simmer down.
-
Sigh. Well, at least it's still well before the 25th deadline, so I guess that's something! Grar and blerg.
-
haha. watch them troll us. we'll get our decisions in ten minutes. (I do not actually think this will happen... for now I will decide which show to marathon next on Netflix.)
-
I hear you. I've been trying to limit the amount of times I check my email ("okay, I checked at 11:07 so I won't check again until 11:45... maybe 11:30... maybe 11:15... maybe 11:08")... haha. I just want to know so I can start getting my ducks in a row!
-
I'm inclined to agree, though I do wonder what they'll say if some (brave!) soul calls to ask. I know that last time someone called we got a "March 25, but we try to get them out ASAP" type response. But their admitted students weekend must be coming up, and they've got to have time to get funding offers out well before April 15th... right? Haha. I feel like this week is most prudent, but then, I'm an antsy applicant. HigherEd, you are in an AWESOME position and I'm so excited for you no matter what!
-
Yeah for optimism. You seem like a fabulous fit at HGSE or TC to me. No matter what, you're going somewhere awesome and you're getting money for it too! (This is what I've been telling myself, haha, even when I freak out that I didn't get the HGSE newsletter so that surely means I'm rejected, or become otherwise convinced that my chances are tiny.)
-
just when I think I've reached my limit for how grateful I am to GradCafers for getting through this process together, you guys come and up the bar with your hatred of Fishy Fishaaay. Praise you.

CONGRATS, TCers!

Every time the Huffington Post sends me an email I spaz out just because of the damn H.
