  1. Sigh. Oh well, let us hold our heads up hopefully for another day.
  2. I'm at status too... Hmm. I mean, I know admissions peeps work crazy hours and I frankly wouldn't be surprised if they're working late right now. But it does diverge from the decision precedents set by the last few years.
  3. I think working in admissions is a crazy experience regardless. It certainly was for the folks at Swarthmore when I worked in the admissions office for a few years. Fun, though.
  4. Do we need to distract ourselves again? I've become a pro at distracting myself. Oh, well. If we do hear this week, it's still a good few weeks before the official HGSE decision date, so I guess we're lucky... But I'm antsy!
  5. Hmm. I wonder how long that would take once and when we'd find out. I wish I had paid attention today to see if it said status or index. I did yesterday but not today. If we had we could have seen if there was any correlation - whether certain programs were getting index or status, etc.
  6. Fair point!
  7. Yeah. I have a bunch of friends messaging me asking if I've heard. Now my rambling about HGSE is backfiring. Thanks for the tip, vincehoward! I was considering going for grad housing... Maybe I'll give it second thoughts. I know that if I end up in DC I will be apartment hunting, so I might as well sharpen my skillz in both cities. Anyone have luck with any housing websites? I sort of idly browse Padmapper, which maps a collation of Craigslist and a few other sites' postings, whenever I need distractions. Maybe I should do that now, haha...
  8. The forecasts I've read said it shouldn't affect Boston at all... Phew! I have a snow day here in MD at least today. I'm still hoping for today! Maybe around 1PM. IDK.
  9. Hahaha. If it's close to that, you get all the H-shaped cookies. H for Harvard! We can do this, y'alllll.
  10. GAH, it's 6:24. Past last year's now. EDIT: time to hit the hard stuff... rooibos tea. haahaha
  11. Well, maybe if it doesn't come, we'll have gotten all those nerves out of our system.
  12. Haha, it was all worth it for the flying squirrel quip! Time for sporcle. The Countries of the World quiz should occupy my brain for awhile...
  13. CQE, you FREAKED ME OUT for a minute. I thought you asked if we all had already gotten this email and I checked my Gmail and spaaaazzed out. Hahaha. So much for the calming yoga I just did.
  14. Grrr. I too have been hit with the upvote limit for the day. Why would a forum about grad school want to limit positivity and, as ASzofer so perfectly put it, sharing the love? Feels baaad, man. I've got gifs picked out for reactions... for now, have a random one... call it the nerves!dance. (Also for any Buffy/Angel fans out there.) I'm changing my avatar for today too. Just to keep things optimistic.
  15. Hey, some good news for me, funding from GW! Hooray. A little spot of good news amongst all this waiting.
  16. At least we've all bonded and are in this together! Mmm, cake is tasty.
  17. Ah... We're due to get that storm tonight here in Maryland! I'm hoping for a snow day to celebrate no matter what.
  18. Another distraction: my sister and I are making this cake. (Sans the blue raspberry frosting... the flavor of our childhood.) Days off work are nice. http://easybaked.net/2012/10/10/tie-dye-cake-with-blue-raspberry-frosting/
  19. Hear, hear!!!
  20. Today is a day that I will dance every bit of stress out and sink myself into lots of girl power YA lit. (In Tamora Pierce mode at the moment!) I find out about funding from GW today too. GRAHHHH. I find that Florence and the Machine make great dance-it-out music. And The Killers' fabulous song "Spaceman." And if I need to chill out at all, Norah Jones shall be my guide. (Birdy is great too, thanks CQE!)
  21. I don't have work today and my little sister is visiting while she's on spring break, so that's a fun distraction! I think maybe I'll do some baking or something this afternoon to destress. Baking is great for that. This is great to know! Thank you. I think TC releases theirs in more of a rolling fashion; check out the TC thread! I think decisions have been trickling in - but I might be totally wrong on this.
  22. I went to the Admitted Students day! I was accepted to the Museum Education program. The best part was that you got to have breakfast with your program advisor/director and other admitted students; I found that the most helpful part of the morning. Most of the day was taken up with different panels, ranging from research-based stuff to life-at-GW-in-D.C. type stuff. I certainly found it helpful, but like you, I've had some trouble sussing out what GW exactly wants sometimes. I think their website could use a redesign in particular. Now that I'm in contact with specific program people I feel much more in the know, but I'm still confused about things like funding that are out of the realm of the specific program.
  23. vincehoward, we're crossing our fingers that tomorrow is the day from past HGSE threads. Historically, the first Tuesday in March is when folks have found out (give or take). So we don't know officially, but it's our best guess.
  24. Now CQE's avatar gets its big shining moment. I sure hope our decisions are only a day away.
  25. I have a good friend who is staying in the UAE right now and he gets around to Abu Dhabi and Dubai a lot. They're crazy and fun cities. I think Dubai, tangentially, has one of the world's only remaining Borders bookstores. I mourn Borders, so when I saw a picture of one on his travel blog, I immediately asked when I could visit... and then he got mad that Borders was the thing to bring me out there.
