I'd say their material ranges from moderate to advanced. Some of their math is so advanced, it seems from/for the GMAT not GRE. However, their "easy" and most "moderate" questions are relevant in my opinion. They are defiitely very thorough and cover everything. However, if your math is bad, you will be overwhelmed and may want to start with something more concise.

Yeah the "hard" ones in Manhatten are very difficult and supposedly harder than ETS. I haven't done the hard ones recently but I also obviously wasn't satisfied with my Q155 this week. Magoosh also has a lot of questions that are harder than the original test. I think it's important to keep the real ETS practice tests (powerprep software and textbook tests) in mind to get a feeling for how hard the GRE is going to be. I found the Barron's 6 Full-Length Practice tests to be very close to the GRE as well, so I recommend them.

Hi, Just wondering if anyone can recommend Kaplan Q Bank or not. I heard generally Kaplan is easier than ETS questions? I have 4 weeks to improve my math, got a 155 and want to get a 165. I burned through a lot of my questions already and want to do tons of questions. Probably also getting Manhatten 5 LB. Thanks!

I don't have the 5lb book, I do have the strategy guides. Should I get the 5lb book or sign up for Kaplan's qbank (http://www.kaptest.com/GRE/Prep-for-the-New-GRE/On-Demand/gre-quiz-bank.html) ? I heard Kaplan is not hard enough. My target score is 163-165.

Thanks for the input, I scheduled today and will repeat in 4 weeks. Currently I have Manhatten's Materials, Barron Vocab, Barron Revised Strategy, ETS Official Guide (With powerprep), Magoosh Subscription. I feel like I need more practice materials, possibly a question bank. Any advice? I've noticed that I have some blind spots in math coming from a humanities major. I'm very good with statistics and percentages but not so good with geometry and points/slopes etc. I need more questions to practice .

I'm from a non-CS background (I'm a humanities major) and considering applying to the MCIT program at Penn because it's geared towards people like me. I took the GRE's today at got 157 verbal, 155 quant. According to their website, average verbal was 160 and quant 163 last year for the program. I'm expecting writing to be 5.5-6.0. I had almost no math training in undergrad but still feel like I could have done better because I'm usually better than 155 in quant. Unfortunately the deadline to apply is approaching (May 15th) and I don't want to be too close towards the deadline. the MCIT program is my "dream" program and I can't really apply anywhere else because of my family living near Penn. Option 1) Apply and hope it works out. 2) Apply next year with better GRE scores. 3) Retake the GRE's in 4 weeks and squeeze in right before the deadline. Thoughts?

They are very thorough, and depending on your level you might need such a comprehensive review. However, their questions are often a lot harder but their questions are also labeled as "Easy, Medium, Hard" so I recommend you skipping all the hard ones as they are representative. If you do Manahtten then make sure to use some material that is more close to the GRE's once the test approaches (do all 4 ETS practice ones) last.

You can memorize 1000 words per week if you really apply yourself. Use mnemonicdictionary.com to help yourself with the ones that don't stick. I've been doing over 100 per day and they are sticking. Good luck!

The GRE often has quanitative comparison, which numbers do you use to plug in to check if A or B is bigger/smaller/equal/cannot be determined? So far I have come up with -1, 0, +1 and then depending on the problem another set of +/- integers.

Hey All, So I just got done with all of Manhatten's Books (7 Book Series). What I have in mind now for the next 2 months prior to taking the GRE's is doing Practice Questions non-stop. What's a good place (online or book) that has tons of questions for me to practice with, as close to the real deal as possible. (No Magoosh or Manhatten, they are by far harder). In a way I want to "simplify" my approaches a bit because Manhatten is very advanced and many GRE questions need less metholodology and more quick, simple thinking and solving. I just completed Practice Test 1 (https://www.ets.org/gre/revised_general/prepare/disabilities/practice_test_1) from GRE and it seemed rediculously easy? I got 14/15 right, on average. Last, I need to brush up on my vocab now and I find it stupid to just memmorize 5000 words. Any reasonable approaches? Thanks!!

Hey, I am debating if I should take the GRE test paper-based or computer-based. Anyone want to weigh in what works best, in general? I personally have studied almost entirely paper-based and I use scratch paper a lot. Looking up and down from a computer to scratch paper might produce more transferring errors than a paper-based test. Also, is the computer-based new revised GRE still an adaptive test (adapting to prior responses)? Thanks!

I'd like to say you have a good chance. Make sure you know exactly what you're going into though, and not repeat my mistake. 60 credits are a ton!

The GRE's are mostly a formality for counseling programs, they are not very competitive. If I were you I would go for Social Work because they have more job opportunities and a bigger lobby. They also earn more if that is important to you. This is coming from a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Student about to graduate. Your scores are fine, unless you apply to some of the top notch social work programs (which I dont know) you should have 0 problems getting in. If counseling is what you truly desire then good luck! If it's not or you are in doubt do social work or something else. It can be a high stress low pay environment. Hope that wasn't too much of a downer.

Magoosh is way too hard and allthough they have video explanations they are not enough to build a true math foundation, which is why Manhatten is the right choice for you.

So what is the golden standard of word lists? I plan on memorizing about 1000 words, any recommendation? Thank you!
