  1. I still have my "exercise" playlist on, because it only has up-tempo stuff from a really wide variety of genres. I cannot handle slow, maudlin songs just now, no matter how pretty they are. It is currently playing AWOLnation - Guilty Filthy Soul for me, and just got done with Melanie - Brand New Key.
  2. I did, for Biochemistry/Structural Biology, but the interview is actually for Pharmacology (not in the BCMB umbrella), which was my (very close) second choice. So, they've at least done enough deliberation to have looked at my app. and decided to pass it on (and pass on it). I know it would be mortifying for you, but this is awesome (if it happened to someone else, of course!) Thanks for the laugh.
  3. I thought I was losing it a little bit, checking my spam folder so frequently, but then this afternoon I found an email from one of the programs I applied to, just sitting there among all the malware emails and scam artists. It was just a confirmation of submission, but it hasn't done anything good for my state of mind, knowing emails actually got mis-labelled like that. So ready for April.
  4. I have to agree with everyone who's worried about asking recommenders again. Also, I just got word that I'll be assigned more temporary responsibilities at work, in anticipation of my leaving in August. So, if I don't actually leave, I'm going to be stuck doing the work no one else wants, on top of being totally embarrassed about failing and having to ask my supervisors to do more letters. Hang in there, everyone, and have a happy holiday from obsessively checking email.
  5. Yep! It came at 6:30 pm.
  6. Just got an interview with UChicago Molecular Biosciences! It's my first response of any kind (most of my apps are due Jan 1, so I'm not quite finished with everything yet), and I'm really excited.
  7. Hi everyone, Just getting in the swing of things with apps. For those of you doing biochem, how did you decide between programs in chemistry depts. and those biochemistry/biology/molecular biology depts? I'm struggling with narrowing down where to apply. It seems like, in many cases, there is significant overlap in what labs participate in each program. I've been chatting with my undergrad research advisor about it, but I've been out of school (in pharma research) for nearly five years, so I don't have a lot of peers in the same situation.
