  1. How did you find out about your rejection to MIT? I still have heard nothing from them and have no idea what this means.
  2. Wait, what!! I thought the results are announced end of March/beginning of April?
  3. Same for Italy!!!! Application numbers are very similar, but about half the number of awards for Italy But at this point, once you're recommended, it doesn't really matter how many applications there were to start. However, knowing there are 16 awards available for Italy is awesome because it had said 13 on the website earlier.
  4. You shouldn't be nervous for it. I went on a visiting weekend already and it was a lot of fun: wined and dined while you're there and all of the faculty, current students, and prospective students were all very nice and cool, and made for some great conversation. Just come in prepared by reading up on faculty of interest to you, have fun, and good luck!!
  5. Hey so after seeing 3 more people get into UC Berkeley today, could any of you guys let us know if the email made any indication if they are still making offers or if this is the last of them. Thanks.
  6. I called them a few days ago and they said most acceptances have already been sent out (and that maybe there are a couple left to be sent), so I would say odds aren't very good right now.
  7. I'm wondering the same for MIT because of all of those rejections earlier today.
  8. Heard nothing from Columbia either or from any of my other top choices, but I have also been incredibly pumped for Stanford for a while now. It was my top choice going in and I just can't wait to visit at this point!! When do you think you are visiting, Ajak?
  9. Georgia Tech with Presidential Fellowship as well. I think the March visiting weekend will end up conflicting with a school for me, but the only other weekend is the second week of April, which is incredibly late, so it doesn't look like I'll be able to visit.
  10. UCLA's visiting days are January 25th, February 22nd, and March 22nd for the person who was wondering.
  11. I study theoretical and computational chemistry and my project would be to use these methodologies to study multiple sclerosis at the University of Florence.
  12. Just got to the next round!!!! Application going to Italy now
  13. Just got rejected from Northwestern like a bunch of people on here. Kinda sucks because I did an REU there, but I don't really care any more since I already have a better choice.
  14. Hey, same here!! Where in Italy did you apply to and what field are you in? And good luck everyone!! Hopefully we all get some good news tomorrow.
  15. Hey, so I'm going on a visiting day next week and want to prepare a little by reading up on the professors performing research similar to my interests. To be honest, the school I am going to next week is not one of my top choices but I wanted to visit, anyway. Since this is the case, do you think I need to really read up a lot on these professors and read some of their papers, or do you think it would suffice to just read through their group lab pages? Thanks.
  16. Hey, so I'll be going on my first visit next week and I was just wondering from those who went through this in previous years: what is the attire/what do most people wear (I don't want to be underdressed or overdressed!!) Also, who else will be going on this visit (UCLA January 25th)? Thanks.
  17. To the person who posted on the results search that they got into MIT today, congratulations!!! Would you please share when the visiting weekends are so I can coordinate my visits. Thank you.
  18. I agree with Faraday. I wouldn't worry too much, you should be fine. Also, I don't think many people on this forum are applying to the places you are, especially Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Georgetown.
  19. Also, I forgot to mention Stanford's visitation dates are February 28th, March 7th, 14th and 21st. Hope this helps with people trying to coordinate visits.
  20. Oh, yes. I forgot I can still do that once I submit the application. Thanks. Congrats!!! That's awesome and incredibly early, especially since Cornell's application deadline hasn't even passed yet.
  21. For my application, I didn't have my chem gre score at the time of applying, so I did not self report that score. In that case, do you think everything is ok or do you think they may not have received my scores?
  22. Same here. My general should have arrived the first week of November and my subject by mid December, but both say they have not been received on my application status. I'm sure they just haven't updated yet.
  23. Thanks for the suggestion. The only thing is that Stanford has 4 visiting weekends while most schools probably only have 1 or 2 so I don't want to schedule this one too early so that I wouldn't be able to visit others. As far as how to make the arrangements, I am not sure because I haven't gotten the official letter yet, just an email from a POI.
  24. Thank you, I really appreciate it!! As far as scheduling visits goes, what are most of you doing? Are you waiting until the end of January or first couple of weeks in February (when the last notifications will probably be made) or are you just making arrangements as you get acceptances? I'm just not sure how to go about this to make sure I don't have conflicting visitation weekends after I already schedule a visit but also to make sure I don't make my travel arrangements too late. What do you guys think?
