  1. Unless you said something horribly offensive, then I'd tend to agree with the others. Most interviews don't hinge on one single question. And I wonder if they'd even take your new answer into consideration. It would sort of defeat the purpose of holding an interview and not just emailing you a set of questions to fill out.

I would also caution against this. Indeed, it may seem a bit desperate.

Also, it's really hard to get a feel for how an interview goes. Most likely, it was better than you think.

If you really think that your answer to one question would result in a rejection then yes. otherwise, it is  kind of desperate.

Thank you all...I'm definitely not going to send the email now. I'm very glad I asked...

As you said - it may have gone better than I think...only time will tell.

    :-)

  2. Hi.

So, I had an interview to my dream school three hours ago. It went ok, but not as good as my previous two. Had 6 people interviewing me - wasn't expecting that. Got asked a question that threw me...I'm wondering if I can respond to this question via email to the person directly, even though the interview is over. They did mention I could contact them regarding any questions I had about the program.

Is it tacky to admit that you cocked up the question in the interview, but can give them an answer now without the pressure?

  3. Received two interview invites over the weekend, one of which was from the dream school!! I have to share that my GRE scores were awfully low and I wrote the wrong SCHOOL halfway in my application, because I was doing two apps on the same day.

I was DISTRAUGHT when I realized...but quickly contacted the department to let them know of the mistake. I had almost given up hope until this weekend!

I'm praying that the interview will not be in vain! All things are possible!! Be encouraged.

  4. I have never thought of myself as a cheerleader before  :P .  But gosh this process is hard.  The only thing that was similar was when my husband I were  putting in bids for a house and waiting to hear back.  It was so stressful.  I remember when I just knew one house was going to be ours.  We put in a competitive bid and waited and waited, and our agent let us know that we didn't get the house.  I was devastated.  But I'll never forget that my agent sent me an email and said, it may takes some time, but we are going to find you the perfect house for you, and we're not going to stop until we do.  You got it?  I wiped my tears, which were many, and said, yes, I get it.  And we did get our house (that is an interesting story in itself).  I love our house.  We are still working on it, but to me it is soooooo beautiful!  So, to all on this forum...we are going to get into the program this is perfect for us.  It may take some time, but it will happen.  Get it?!!

This spoke volumes to me as I'm going through something similar with a house...thank you!!!

  5. Don't lose hope yet, folks! Optimism is key here. Or at least that's what I keep telling myself.

Meanwhile, is anyone else going INSANE waiting to hear something? The suspense is killing me.

Yes! Gosh. I am irrationally bummed out about having heard nothing, re: my 7 apps. I applied between three fields and apparently I only picked schools that release decisions late in the game. For comm (phd), I applied to NYU and USC.

You are all very much right...we have to be positive! No news is just no news...until it's good news - or news that we have to deal with accordingly.

    It's almost February!!!

  6. Hi everyone!

    I need some advice :-S

So, I had a great visit with one of my schools - before the application was due - and things were looking promising. The application was due Dec 1st...and I haven't heard a peep since. I've now seen from the results search that one person was notified back in December - so the question is...is it a good idea to call the admissions office - and what's a good excuse to use?
