  1. Hi, I was just wondering if you plan to attend Tyler? And to anyone on the forum who is attending Tyler, living in, or have lived in Philadelphia, would you be willing to answer some questions or give some advice on living there? Thanks!
  2. Love your drawings. I do wish there were more (or more clear) photographs of your installations, particularly the grocery bag piece. It seems like it might have been fantastic to see in person.
  3. If you can get to a library and access digital magazine archives, there have been some great articles written about mfa programs (1-3 yrs ago, or even 5-10 yrs), in Frieze, Artforum, Art in America, etc. It would at least give you a sense of the ideology associated with the programs (and trends & changes) and see what you connect with. Possibly just as a jumping off point for your research. good luck.
  4. I agree with you - accept that when I've visited and spoken to them, I was treated extremely well. Even when I called to bother them about what the heck was going on with their decision delays, everyone was really nice. but the summer ad is tacky, for sure.
  5. No no, I totally get it! I felt that way when I got the same thing from their painting program.
  6. Did either of you happen to check your online app? Does it says complete or incomplete?
  7. Thanks beards, That summer program ad is really annoying, the one I received from painting said "several scholarships available" but I called just to find out and there are maybe two that cover less than half of the cost.. I'm sure it would be a great experience, but that's some pricey summer camp.
  8. Hi I just went back to see when I posted this and thought I would reply, I still haven't heard anything, and am in a similar position. Congratulations on the good deal and acceptance. Wondering - if you aren't 100% positive about a program or location, is it better to wait? I'm not being courted by a bunch of schools or anything, I wasn't accepted by several, I just wanted to clarify. I'm just wondering what opinions are on taking time off, passing up opportunities, trying again for the same programs, etc?
  9. I just received an email from them, was not accepted.
  10. Thanks for the info, I'm in a similar position, congratulations to you both!
  11. Holy crap! That's terrible! I think you should be barking and screaming!! And continue to do so, even as the semester goes on, I know that some schools (don't know about all) are able to reallocate funds when a student drops out, so as it gets closer to the beginning of classes (and even a week or more after) I would continue to ask (politely harass) your financial aid department/advisors about this. Additionally there are a lot of scholarships that have deadlines coming up around this time and you could apply for some of those to supplement what you may have missed out on. Maybe the school will award you more during your second year? Good luck!
  12. those denied by vcu painting + printmaking, did ya'll receive the invite to apply for the summer studio program? Additionally, has anyone on the forum gone through this/have any insight into it?
  13. Hey Arsenic, something very similar to what happened to you happened to my husband recently, he was out of contact (by his mistake) for over a week, and then it took the school a couple days to get back to him, which was stressful but in the end it was really no big deal, I wouldn't waste any valuable time worrying, no doubt that time could be better spent, and it'll probably end up being no bggie.
