  1. I live a block away from Stony Island at 57th. Honestly, I don't know what apartments you would even find on Stony Island, apart from the under grad dorm there. I don't think Stony Island is any worse than the other streets, that being said. Personally I would look from 53rd to 59th, Lake Shore to Cottage Grove. Hope that helps!
  2. Hey guys, Oklahoma native here, didn't go to OSU but visited plenty of friends who did during undergrad. Stillwater is definitely a college town but one with a cute personality. As far as I know, not really a clubbing/fancy bars kind of town, more of a dive bars and local restaurants place. Since it is college town-y, there is a young vibe. Hope that helps!
  3. Hey guys - I did my undergrad at UofC, here's a website that might be helpful: http://marketplace.uchicago.edu - this is how I found my apartments, also good for furniture and odds and ends. Closer than downtown or the north side, but I'm not aware of IIT students and UofC students sharing apartments. If you're willing to do the commute, you can basically live anywhere in the city. I know some people would rather live north than south, which can be a commute of around an hour, if not more, depending where you are. Feel free to message me with logistical questions! Congrats all!
  4. I have basically the same question - anyone have any actual housing experience? David - I drove past all 3 complexes while in Austin recently and thought they looked pretty decent - obviously not luxury apartments, but lots of parking, a small community garden on each complex, and tons of washer and dryers. I think Brackenridge (someone correct me if I'm wrong) is the newest complex and looks a bit nicer than the others. As to families, I definitely saw a few toys/youngins around the complexes, but I also saw a decent number of younger students waiting for the buses sooo... looks like a mix. From what I understand University Apartments are waitlisted, so if you're even considering I would suggest filling out info NOW. I asked when I would receive info about whether or not I have a place and they said 30 days before the desired move-in date I had put down - yikes! But they are super cheap and in a good location so I think I'll stick it out... Maybe put a deposit on another place just in case? Scary!
  5. Just officially accepted for MSIS yesterday, so excited!!!
  6. I haven't received anything in mail/email but I navigated their system to find my EFAN... they offered me 400 dollars for the year as a non-resident. Hope you had better luck! Here's the page I started on: http://studentaid.unc.edu/ and then went to the EFAN.
