I got accepted into a program the other day and got contacted by the Graduate Coordinator..not even by the DGS, let alone the POI. So, I think it just depends upon the program...

A few questions: what is your area of interest? If if you are interested in military history, have you looked at Norwich's online MA? Also, is there any chance you could switch to active duty Army and have them pay for your MA? Possibly at one of the military colleges?

If you don't get into the program you want this year, what is your plan B? I plan to do an MAT and teach High School history for a while.

Same here. I'll be doing an MAT if PhD falls through, and teaching high school history. Already subbing right now.

Jimmy Byrd at Vanderbilt is currently supervising a student on a dissertation about Mormonism. That student started with Kathleen Flake before she left for UVA, but Jimmy is a great advisor and an up-and-comer in American Religious History.

At UT and Vanderbilt, American Religious History. Everywhere else, American West/Environmental.

Apparently, Knoxville is covered in snow, but the University of Tennessee is still open. Is anyone else here hoping to hear from them today?

I would also second that. I completed the MTS in American Religious History at Vandy and had a lot of contact with the history department. Great place to do American and Europeon history, but pretty weak in many other areas.

Just heard from a friend at the GDR at Vanderbilt that they did interviews Monday and Tuesday. That means that decisions should be out shortly.

I'm waiting on University of Oregon, University of Tennessee, Vanderbilt's Graduate Department of Religion, and Washington State.....and they are all taking their sweet time....could be this week or next...

Yeah, I am surprised as well since there were 6 acceptances recorded last year. But historically, it looks like UW notifies everyone in one or two days....so its very odd.

What is with the University of Oklahoma not having funding for anyone? I almost applied as they have a good American West program...

A disappointing week. Haven't heard from UW or UC Davis...

Off the top of my head, I know that Washington State and Claremont Graduate School both have such deadlines.

There are programs with priority deadlines which continue to accept applicants after that date, if you are looking for another place to apply...
