  1. Hey. I've decided to take a free course at coursera just to see how it is. It's starting on April 9. Might take a proper class in summer. What have you decided?
  2. Oh that's great We should exchange notes while we're deciding.
  3. Comparative and Regional Studies. I'll call the office today.
  4. Cool topic! Since I'm an international student, I heard from all my universities post 1 am local time. First acceptance- It was 1.24 am...was up watching TV...saw it on my phone.... First wait-list: It was an hour or so after dinner....saw it on my phone....the title of the email was 'update' which I thought was weird....when I didn't see the word congratulations in the first line I was sure it's a rejection but turned out to be wait-list Second acceptance- had been tossing and turning in bed but couldn't sleep..so logged onto grad cafe...received the decision email around 4.30 am....
  5. Me too. But I'll still call admissions once just to be sure. Which program did you apply for?
  6. Congrats to you as well. About funding, it's a little different for me since I'm an international student. But I think the acceptance email has some instructions regarding federal aid.
  7. Hahahaha! I had two mini heart attacks while navigating through the links before I finally realized I got in! Anyway, congrats! Which program did you apply for? I applied for the MA in International Affairs(Comparative and Regional Studies)
  8. I'm an international student too and I noticed that the email only mentions federal aid information. Although once you click on the link to your program, it says that if you haven't heard about funding in your acceptance letter, you probably didn't get it. I was thinking of calling/emailing them to find out. Please let me know what you hear as well.
  9. I applied for the MA in International Affairs(Comparative and Regional Studies).
  10. Accepted Although, didn't hear about funding. I'm guessing it means I won't get any. Did anyone else hear?
  11. Got into SIS(American)! Yay!! Although, it doesn't say anything about funding Anyone else hear from them?
  12. It's great that you're attending. I'd like to know everything! I might just PM you some questions if that's alright.
  13. Got this in reply to an email I sent asking about the admission packet, scholarship decisions and deadline to decide about the offer: "We haven’t sent out your admissions packet yet. That will happen very soon, though. We wait for the admissions letter from the Graduate School (you receive one from them as well as from our department.) With that admissions letter will be the form that you return to us indicating that you accept our offer of admission. Our Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, Christine Omolino, will be starting to work on the funding decisions on Monday, March 18. Next week she has to travel for a few events on behalf of our department. If our department offers you an award, she will send you an email. It takes her at least a week or a bit more to decide to whom to give funding, and what type and how much. There are several variables. I mention this so that you give it some time. There may be some applicants that she emails right away and others that don’t hear from us until later in March. We have been saying that everyone will know if they have received an award by April 1. You have until April 15 to let us know if you have accepted our offer of admission. That gives you some time to think over whether you’d like to accept our offer."
  14. Got the same email. By the way, did you get a formal letter of admission from them? I still haven't got mine although I got a decision on February 19! I'm starting to worry that it got lost in the mail! Also, weren't you planning to go to Maxwell for one of the admitted student days? Still going?
  15. Ok, question(s). Is there an SFS Georgetown alum or anyone who was in this situation who can answer this? Should I consider being wait-listed by Georgetown as rejection? Has anyone here been accepted by Georgetown after being wait-listed? This is for the MA in Asian Studies program.
  16. MA in Asian Studies. Yeah, it's better than a rejection but it's one of my top choices.
  17. SIPA posted this on their admission blog on March 4: "we’re actively reviewing applications — unfortunately, keeping you abreast of our daily activities was put on hold (not on purpose — we lost track of what day it was ). with hopes of releasing decisions beginning on march 18th, we are identifying all the candidates who would be a great fit at SIPA and those who we have to unfortunately turn away this year."
  18. Has anyone who applied to Elliott heard from them?
  19. If that's the case, then I should start worrying. Because since I heard about being accepted via email 10 days ago, I haven't heard from them Any other international students got an email/mail regarding proof of funding?
  20. I studied engineering in my undergrad. Then did a diploma in journalism and have worked in print for around 2 years now. So, as you can see, no direct IR connection!
  21. Oh! Thanks for the heads up. I had to provide proof of finances for some schools but when I asked Maxwell while applying, they said it's not required at the moment. I'll email and check about this. Also, they still haven't responded to my email about the deadline for making a decision about the offer. Have you heard anything?
  22. Thanks for all this information rudy2012 I'm going to keep checking both Solano and Fort Hays for updates on summer classes. @deadhead47 Let me know which school you decide to enroll in. I wanted to take up a foreign language as well so I'll do that now and take up eco courses in summer.
  23. Oh, thanks for the info. Yeah, I know NYU SCPS has rolling admissions. I wasn't sure if I wanted to apply there so I only recently submitted my application. So just wanted to know how long their process takes. Elliott is March too right?
