I didn't apply there but I find it very strange that they would have a funding waitlist. Maybe that's just a regular waitlist? I don't see anybody in the top 40-50 paying their way through a phd in sociology.

Two things about acceptances; 1. Some acceptance posts on the results search are bs (hence the need for "report spam" tab) 2. A lot of programs notify in waves Don't give up hope. You might be pleasantly surprised when you least expect it.

Congrats! This is good news for those of us who applied to UNC as it shows that the adcomm is probably done reviewing applications. From what I understand about the UNC process is that senior faculty individually contact accepted applicants which means that notification dates will likely be very sporadic. Best of luck to all who applied.

I wouldn't say they are behind because if you look at the previous years, they also sent out invites on January 19, and January 22 (in 2009 I think). So, it should be soon!

I think those are just interview invites and not acceptances.

Some of you are seriously going insane, which makes you ideal graduate candidates and future academics!
