  1. Sorry but I don't. He went to Penn. His field is Jewish Studies. I thought that studying with Prof. Levenson at HDS would've been great, and Prof. Cohen at NELC, Harvard. So, I would guess---but I never asked him really--that this actually had something to do with the ThD. But I might be making things up. If you like I can ask if I could give you his contact info. But the reason for declining an offer could be pretty private, so ...
  2. I just surprisingly got an acceptance from Brown Religious Studies. Very thankful and relieved. My first (more or less certain) acceptance so far.
  3. I have a friend who got into the ThD but not the PhD last year. He declined the offer.
  4. Thank you very much for your insights! Honestly this is not comforting news but I do appreciate your comments. It is, I believe, always better to be cautious. Actually I'm wondering what this "general committee" consists of. It sounds like my application is sent back to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences for review. Are professors from this department part of this committee? Who are reviewing this nominees right now? Administrators? Professors from whatever department? At my department there are three sub-fields. In the ancient field I know and have taken courses with all of the four full professors and two of them wrote my recommendations (the other two I didn't ask because I didn't take classes with them until the application season). I heard positive hints from three of them, the other one is technically from a different "school", though also part of the university. I'm not sure if he participates in the review process of this department. Anyway, I had a talk last week with my POI, he said that his concern is that he is going to retire in two years. I had known this before and asked him if I should apply, and he told me that it's fine since the university will replace him and he can still supervise dissertations after retirement. However, I realized that this could be used as an excuse to cut down the ancient field's quota in the department. The other two have stronger faculties, a lot more professors. They said that I'm high on the list. But I think now the problem is if they have made a departmental list. If so, then the question is again: who are those people who review the recommended ones at the GSAS.
  5. I still haven't heard anything from Brown. This is really strange. Has anyone heard of any acceptances to their RAM program?
  6. I called and apparently Brown is posting the results now. I have received nothing. I would assume that they post the acceptances first, cuz there are only five of them.
  7. Someone told me that...
  8. brown has made their decisions?
  9. sorry I don't really know but my friend does specialize in Levantine Arch. He said it's an institute which accepted him.
  10. any news from Brown?
  11. I confirmed with Prof. Pardee that all acceptances have been sent out at approximately the same time (not sure how true that is since archaeology results were sent out a week before comparative semitics), so whoever has not received an email is rejected by U of Chicago. Not my top choice but still not happy.
  12. And they were notified already?
  13. As I reported in the Religion thread: U of Chicago Divinity has sent out all acceptances for the HB program. So anyone who hasn't heard a word is rejected.
  14. I just asked a professor at U of Chicago Divinity and it is now CONFIRMED that all acceptances in Hebrew Bible have been sent by yesterday. So I got rejected and unfortunately, I guess everyone else who hasn't hear a word is indeed rejected.
  15. Maybe he did and it's the students who didn't report the results on this forum. In fact, none of my three friends who got admitted reported their results. It's only me gossiping time and again. So this could always be the case. btw, Harvard has made a list and the GSAS is going to review the nominees.
  16. So the other three "unaccounted for" are (at least partially) HB/NWS?
  17. I'm guessing that they notified all the positive results, acceptances or waitlists, yesterday, together with internal rejections. Though I don't quite see the logic in this, yet there are only two rejection records from yesterday.
  18. There is a new acceptance (U of Chicago Divinity) on result search and reportedly the applicant was notified today. Anyone else got an email today rather than yesterday?
  19. There seems to be non-U of Chicago applicants who were waitlisted yesterday, though
  20. for the record, my friend was rejected by Austin. So it's totally possible that they have not sent out acceptances.
  21. UT Austin seems to have made their decisions via website. I didn't apply this time but a friend told me. No email notification before that. So you guys might want to check the website.
  22. About U of Chicago, on the ancient side, so far I personally know of 3 acceptances, two comparative semitics and one archaeology. apparently they hold they prospective students day on Mar. 4th. Therefore, I'm officially losing hope. Perhaps cuneiform studies and NWS/HB also notified someone who is either unaware of this website or for some reason doesn't care to report their results. Only two weeks before the prospective (admitted) students day and they still don't notify students in certain fields? Possible but to me it's quite unlikely.
  23. at least a friend of mine, also a classmate, got accepted by the archaeology program and is visiting the campus next week.
  24. Thank you for the kind words! If I understand correctly, Bible as a whole is one program at the Div School. The interview was for New Testament and my area is Old Testament/Hebrew Bible. So it's really tricky. Anyway, I should know the result within a couple of days, if not hours.
  25. I see. I unfortunately didn't visit the Divinity School. And since I wasn't interviewed either, I guess they are probably not so interested in me.
