  1. Apparently the ad. com. met on Feb. 12 already, despite the snow. So, decisions have been made. I still find it strange, however, that no one has posted an acceptance on the results board.
  2. For those of you waiting for Georgetown - according to the website the admissions committee meets on Feb. 12. Unless snowmageddon/snowpocalypse strikes again! (I'm a bit of a lurker; I'm waiting for my fiance's results...)
  3. Thanks for the congrats and good luck to everyone else. I hope you hear back soon! And to go back to a previous topic - it really doesn't hurt to be in touch with your grad secretaries. I called my department secretary this afternoon to see if she had the results. She didn't, but then, not 5 minutes later, she called me back on my cell to tell me I got the CGS! Congrats to everyone so far!
  4. Successful/unsuccessful: Successful MA/PhD (if PhD, specify SSHRC/SSHRC CGS/Vanier): PhD - CGS Department: History # of years into program: Starting Fall 2009 MA Major Awards & Value: OGS & UWaterloo President's Scholarship PhD Major Awards & Value: Undergraduate GPA: 83.5% Graduate GPA: no grades available at the time of application Research contributions/Publications so far: 1 Graduate Student Conference Presentation Strengths of application: Very strong letters of reference; good proposal Weaknesses of application: Not always easy to sell the relevance of a topic in Medieval History... Level/Form of Departmental Support (i.e. SSHRC workshops): Lots of support from my MA supervisor, SSHRC workshop every year by the department and SGS University at the time of application: University of Waterloo University where you will take up the award: University of Leeds - on the application
  5. Ok! I take back my previous post! My department secretary just called and I got PhD SSHRC! Edit: I'm at the University of Waterloo by the way!
  6. My grad secretary in the history department doesn't have anything yet. But she said that she heard the results were released yesterday. I'm still trying to get a hold of our grad studies department. Grrr!!!
  7. Yes, this is my understanding too - for those of us who applied from within a university.
  8. Yes, SSHRC notifies all the grad studies offices, then they in turn notify the departments and mail out the letters. My department grad secretary said that she then calls everyone to let them know.
  9. Ok, I got WAY too excited when I saw your post..... and then I read postdoc....
  10. It's at least good to know that we're all going crazy together!
  11. On my letter it states: "You may hold other awards that, together, have a maximum value of $10,000 per year." So no SSHRC.
  12. But the results do get released to the individual grad studies offices at each university first before they get mailed out. So maybe it'll be sooner...... I can hope at least!
  13. I'll be attending Georgetown for Late Medieval ~ Early Modern European History!
  14. That is what my grad studies office said as well. Grrrrr!
