  1. You'll find out this or next week.
  2. I don't think its more competitive than sjsu. They have the same class size if not off by 20. It all depends now if those who were offered early admission follow through with their intent to attend. If not, it'll open more spots.
  3. A friend of mine graduated last year with her msw from east bay. She said it was okay and didn't really have great things to say about it. Just lots of work in a small period of time. It was her back up school and since she attended there she obviously didn't get into the other schools she applied to. As for job wise, it also had an impact on her employment search from what she said. She said the more "desirable employer" were more prone to hiring someone from a more "prestige" school since she applied for jobs where more Berkeley, sfsu, and usc graduates attended but I'm sure there is more to it. She had a 4.0 so I really don't know. Good luck with your apps.
  4. I had a problem with one of my LOR and had to submit everything 2 days before the deadline. I had a backup LOR but held off submitting it since the one I wanted to submit had a phd in SW.
  5. We'll see soon enough. I'm hoping people who had early admission applied elsewhere and backed out on their intent to attend East Bay.
  6. I called the dept and asked. Are they your first choice?
  7. Just an update to those who applied to CSUEB. They are NOT doing rolling admission this year. Those who were given and accepted early admission for 2014 in 2013 took up most of the spots and any open seats are given to top applicants. Sucks for those who applied early.
  8. I chose CSUs to be cost effective as one of my reasons. I'm sure they'll be just as great as UCs and any other private schools. I'm also applying to programs in SoCal but not sure which... I kind of jumped the gun applying to the ones I mentioned above... Shouldn't have applied so fast... Applying cost a lot of money and I'm not even done yet. Not enough confidence of getting in so I also applied to "back up" schools just in case lol.
  9. Have any of you applied to the MSW programs in California? I just submitted my apps through csumentor to: SFSU SJSU CSUEB CSU Stanislaus CSU Sacramento more pending just dont know where yet.
  10. I heard csueb was "good, not bad" from someone I knew who attended... not much of a feedback but yeah... Thats all I got for you lol. Good luck on your decision
  11. I saw it on the sfsu thread and was wondering if it was the same for sjsu
  12. Not sure if this applies but I read in another thread that those that received the FA on their to do list all got in despite being told from the dept they are not part of what FA does. Seems like those here on this thread received the FA in their to do list and also got in before they received admission. Was there anyone in here who got admitted but did NOT get a FA in their to do list?
  13. Hey Sassa, have you decided which school you'll be going to?
  14. Congrats, that was quite fast just by submitting a missing doc. They may already have finished reviewing all the apps and are now trying to see who gets priority.
  15. Yeah I think they are kept confidential... I asked to find out who was reviewing my application and she wouldn't say lol
  16. yeah... but this time I wont be an idiot and only apply to one. IF I dont get in then I'll be applying to sfsu, east bay, sjsu, csula, ucla, ucsc, and csudh... going to be very expensive.
  17. They are set to make all admission decisions by the end of this month. So that means we will get an email and status update ony mysjsu of whether we were admitted or rejected. I guess thats better than waiting in may like some did last year.
  18. No just a phone call. They want to make that person feel extra special so that they'll attend sjsu
  19. Only applied to sjsu and still waiting
  20. Talked to Molly from the dept and got those numbers. A phone call is "highly qualified" after that they send you an email to accept their offer. So that would put you there.
  21. Update for SJSU to those still awaiting admission or just news: 440 applicants for the MSW program There are a total of 160 spots open. 80 of those spots have officially been accepted by applicants. Phone calls are given to those whose application are considered "highly qualified" Emails are given to those who they believe are "not the best but would be a great fit for the program" 7 professors are currently going over applications. Should all be reviewed by mid April.
  22. Didn't apply anywhere else unfortunately... Was going to but I backed out on the other because I did not want to attend that University... Now that I thought about it... I should have just applied. What really sucks is that I emailed Dr. Goldman before open enrollment started with my stats and he "really recommended that I apply" as if I'm a sure in... Blahhhh lies!
  23. My faith is gone Congrats to you all that got in! March was the deadline to get in and April is just back up apps that "might" get in. Unfortunately I called the dept and someone picked up that was not Molly. I asked them if they still admitted ppl in until mid to end of April and she said they do but it's not a lot. Only a a few are offered admission. Blahhhhhh you guys deserve the admission. Sassa and stender had much more experience than I did and its directly in the SW field. Here's to another week of quadruple fingers cross lol
