  1. When I called last week she said 30 people were admitted. I'm guessing that's the number of people who submitted their acceptance letter. I'm sure there were atleast triple that amount that was accepted that are either waiting from other schools or just haven't submitted their letters in yet.
  2. Not sure but I'm guessing it was good. The thing that kinda tells me that I didn't get in was when my application was under review over a month ago. Molly told me once they review your application the faculty makes a decision to recommend you to be admitted. My application was already reviewed and I haven't receive any news except for the recent phone call I made to Molly about my status. Even then from hearing her stutter a bit reading what it said in the notes (currently with faculty- no longer under review) I don't think my chances are great. It's okay though, I already accepted the fact that I most likely did not get admitted... But of course there's a part of me that thinks otherwise hahah
  3. I had 2500 hrs when I submitted my app. It's more than that now. Someone I know personally was accepted last week... He had 0 exp and just some volunteer work at a hospital but that's it. Don't know what's going on here... Maybe I chose a competitive concentration (CYF).
  4. Yeah good luck! To be honest... I already lost all hopes for myself. Can't let myself down if I already think I got rejected right? Lol
  5. Congrats on getting into the program you wanted! ....and thank you for opening up space! Lol
  6. Even with an ABS, you are limited with jobs. Many "online universities" offer this such as Florida tech. In the end even if it is accredited, you will still need to get a certificate if you want to be on a higher pay level working with individuals with autism (I mention autism since it is based on behavioral work and it is actually on the higher pay level and it is now covered through insurance). Since it is a BS, you will need approx. 1-2 years of supervised fieldwork depending on how's my hours you work before you can take your BCABA certification exam. If you had your masters already you would take the BCBA. Your pay level will significantly increase with these certificates and your job offers increases but don't think these exams are easy. They are very difficult.
  7. Lol yeah well my gpa ain't all that so I'm a bit happy about that. And yes they are good enough reasons... to me haha maybe not to others. SJSU is #66 in the nation for the best msw grad school so it being location and having friends there just makes it all the better choice.
  8. I like the city because its very diverse and the people are actually friendly for the most part. I also have friends who live in that city and know quite a few people who are attending sjsu for their masters and they enjoy it (not for SW though). As for gpa, I think it does matter but not much. I attended that info meeting Barry Goldman had and he said they mainly look at experience, personal statement, essay sample and not much into gpa. Since I was a fool to only apply to one... I just really hope I get in. I emailed Barry after the info meeting about my experience not being all that great but that I did have atleast 2k hrs in the mental health field but not really SW related type job and he said he "really recommended me to apply"... Well I didn't hear anything back after that sooo .... So much for giving me false hope lol. Why do you want to attend there?
  9. Usually acceptance email and calls are done on Fridays and seeing as there is only one more Friday left this month... It's hard to think positive. After this, from what we all read, those who rejected their admission would open seats up to those next on the list. And then I guess that occurs early April so I really don't know.
  10. Haha so was I but I had to call. She only told me my application was under a faculty but since they didn't make the decision yet, I don't think my chances are great at the moment. It was under review awhile ago and now it's just sitting at his/ her desk collecting dust. Forgot to mention this but there was a total of 400+ applicants and 170 will be admitted so just roughly under half of those applied will get in.
  11. Hey guys, called Molly today.. Looks like I did NOT get admitted to sjsu... but I also did not get rejected either lol so from what she said there is a total of 170 applicants they are admitting and so far "30" has been admitted but that number seems too low so I'm sure it's well over 50. My application is currently with a faculty at the moment who decides if they recommend me going and that is when Barry Goldman will then make the final decision and call and email you the admission letter.
  12. No I had work and didnt get a chance to.
  13. I called the dept and the lady I talked to (not Molly) told me if I called back when Molly gets back from lunch around 1:10pm pst, she will be able to tell you if you were accepted or not. She did say there are some but not much applications still left to review.
  14. @lalaloopsy, is that what Molly from the SW dept told you that early applicants on csumentor has priority?
  15. I hope so... I applied in October..
  16. @dida @sassa Great job in getting in! Atleast you know you're going somewhere.. Only applied to one... Withdrew submitting my app from East Bay since its not the school I would want to attend
  17. So nothing yet huh guys? ... Well it's the beginning of mid march so we'll hear something within the next 2 weeks. I guess they accepted the very top applicants beginning of march. Knew a guy that got accepted beginning of march with 4 yrs of social work exp. Good Luck guys hopefully we'll hear soon!
  18. Congrats!!! Really hope I get in. Looks like they let people know on Fridays... Well here's to another week of waiting lol Where else have you applied to?
  19. Csu mentor in October once it opened and everything else beginning of jan. Didn't matter if I applied early with csumentor since prop 30 passed. The dept of admission said to apply for that early in case prop 30 failed and the cut off would have been in nov. but it passed so it doesn't matter anymore.
  20. Haha too hard to think positive
  21. I called Molly just to verify. She doesn't know why and said to call the financial aid office.
  22. Could mean chances of getting a scholarship based on your gpa.
  23. Could possibly mean you'll be getting a phone call quite soon for admission. I didn't receive anything.
