  1. It seems unlikely that would offer NO funding at all..although if that is the case then it's really really disappointing! I'll keep you posted...
  2. Thanks, really helpful. I noticed that I did have instructions with the email and I logged in to the AU portal to check my financial aid package but it says "Error: You have no financial aid activity on record." wondering if it's just the federal aid info available online or what. I'm international so don't know how that works. I guess I'll call them to figure it out..no end on anxiety for me..
  3. Thanks this is really helpful..I've applied to the SIS International Politics program so hopefully next week will bring funding options as well.
  4. I've been admitted to SIS and I applied for international politics...they haven't given me any information about funding though so I'm still in a state of anxiety.
  5. Congratulations! Where did you find your scholarship information? I can't locate mine...
  6. Admitted! Can't find funding so freaked out a little thinking I never submitted a funding request..pretty sure it was a part of the application itself, right? I'm an international applicant...
  7. I think the $$ is a huge factor too since grad schools are stingy about it....
  8. I believe all decisions are released at once. Good luck!
  9. I'm an Indian national, working in Delhi now but finished college in the US and worked in Washington DC after (still sort of affiliated with the institution...)
  10. Anxiety is stamped all over Grad Cafe topics right now .... Good luck with your MSFS application! My first choice is SAIS though
  11. I applied to MSFS. This week is a little too early! As much as I want to know all the decisions I'm oddly comfortable with the perpetual hyperventilation right now.
  12. Economics major, Russian minor, concentration in globalization studies.
  13. Besides, your major can be related to this field anyway. I know people who were hardcore science majors and decided to switch to IR.
  14. p.s. I was in the same situation..listed a job for my Fletcher and HKS admission that was to start shortly after. But it was a very critical job that was defining for my career so I decided to put in in--I've been at the job since. But if it had fallen through I would be slightly worried about my application.
  15. I'll be honest with you, not a lot of people would have tried to deal with that situation in an ethical way. They probably won't take an updated resume so you should jsut email them the update. If it was an inconsequential job that was not the next big step in your life then you should be fine. I really hope that is the case. Good luck!
  16. I don't think that bitterness toward HKS' policy is completelyyy unwarranted. It's a great program, they've got great resources but let's face it if getting the best public policy degree is all about $$ then it really defeats the purpose. I can see that to be the case with business/law degrees... .....This may not be true only for HKS though so I am not directing my comment only to that institution. I've got my heart in the right place but no $$ to keep it there. Depending on my decisions in 2 weeks I may end up just taking a regular private sector job and kill my passion for the field in order to make ends meet. Will that make me very resentful? Yes, perhaps it will.
  17. I applied to the MALD program at Fletcher and have communicated with the Admissions Director since the review started but there will probably be no decisions news until March 15. Heard nothing from Gtown.
  18. full points to WWS for mentioning the Ides of March.
  19. Looking at this thread didn't cause any anxiety at all. Mid-March for all of my decisions but congratulations to those who got positive responses already!
  20. you may be eligible for the Norton one if your interest is in security issues. it's open to international students
  21. I wouldn't worry about the SAIS fellowship emails being received or not. Their blog post says pretty much the same thing: http://admissionsatsais.tumblr.com/post/42604759871/guest-blog-post-financial-aid
  22. The SAIS fin aid application is due on 15th I believe? I haven't turned mine in yet, will probably do it in a day or two. The named fellowships may have a later deadline if I remember correctly.
  23. I sent mine in like an hour before deadline so I think they just want select applicants to know that they really want them there. I talked to someone who works for admissions and they said that Fletcher has a good PR approach to this process. They really want people to choose Fletcher if down the road the admitted students have options. They may be rolling out more of these emails to other folks so I wouldn't read too much into it..
  24. From my interaction with people like you who have similar experiences, it's not a 'stretch' for you to apply to MPP/MPA programs. You could take another year and try to do some sort of public sector work...or increase your understanding of it through meeting more people and assessing your career choices adequately. Regardless of which year you apply in, your personal statement and recommendations will probably be the most imp factor in telling the admissions committee why your interest in their program is well thought-out. Meet some current students and plan accordingly. Good luck!
  25. I know the Fletcher adcom definitely started reviewing. make sure you inform them that your scores are on their way!
