  1. I would say that is a good omen. People usually don't talk money if they are going to reject you.
  2. LOL. I am, just don't want to get my hopes up only to be rejected. Trying to save myself some heartbreak
  3. LOL could you imagine having to call 200 applicants and ask if they all have questions?
  4. LOL. I suppose that would have helped, sorry I just got out of a three hour class. They had to leave a message, that basically went along the lines of "do you have questions about the department or the application process". I think I am going to e-mail him back for a convenient time to contact him, but I have to come up with questions first.
  5. So I got a call today from a graduate student at one of the universities I applied at and unfortunately I was in class. Or should I say fortunately because he left a message asking if I had any questions and I cannot think of anything atm. Thoughts?
  6. I think we are the patients. So talking about omens, I got a call from a graduate student at N.C. State. Good news?
  7. Lol. Dear god I hope so. If they go through all this effort and then are like "nope--not good enough" I think I would flip a table XD
  8. Then logically you've answered your own question. You are in.
  9. I'm kind of in the same boat here but I would say that you should be cautiously optimistic. I think that they wouldn't have you jump through the hoops of the fellowship if there wasn't interest in you as an applicant. So on that note, congrats!
  10. I've got two good signs/omens so far: (1) an e-mail from the graduate director telling me to apply to a fellowship she thought I was extremely competitive for, that she would write references/statements for me, and that the department would supplement the fellowship if awarded. (2) an e-mail from the graduate director letting me know she submitted my name and contact information for a campus visitation program in February. This is my top school and my interests match up with their primary specializations so I am hoping these are leaning more on the good omen scale.
  11. Yeah I saw that. Congrats to whoever got it.
  12. Nice job! I am dying for them to get the ball rolling already.

  14. Yeah, I probably won't be doing that. Don't want to appear desperate lol. Guess I'll just roll the dice and pray the odds are in my favor
  15. Yeah, my issue is I had a lot of last minute stuff I could have included, like acceptance to conference etc. If the deadline truly was in January and not December that would kill me.
  16. Actually I was just reviewing an e-mail from the grad director and she said the deadline was in December. I am officially confused. On the website under the GRE FAQ it also says the deadline is December 1, 2012. Very confusing. Maybe there is still hope.
  17. Yeah so I totally screwed the pooch on that one. My mind saw January and decided to read December and I submitted all my materials prematurely. Totally not getting now =(
  18. Dear god I hope so. According to the reports from last year they notified late February. I think I will explode before then lol
