  1. Can anyone share their experiences about Admit Day? - if you're still following the forum here..
  2. Dont go to HKS unless you have a scholarship or some sort of funding. Its not worth the degree to get into substantial debt as it will not give you what you're looking for. I've spoken to many HKS grads who said that their degree had little impact on their career progression or earnings. Work experience is the most important factor. Plus, the HKS holds little value outside the US.
  3. I see you got admitted. Do you mind sharing your background/stats with us? I posted in the HKS subforum that CPL fellowships (finalists) will be notified Monday/Tuesday.
  4. Can you share your background/stats with me? Am curious as to why you got dinged also. I'm still puzzled..
  5. Yes, the remaining decisons will be out Monday & Tuesday; the CPL fellowships you mentioned will also be announced (to finalists) Monday & Tuesday.
  6. I cant believe I'm the only Mason here reporting his result..
  7. Sorry to disappoint you, but that tab doesnt mean anything, its just that way in their system. If you're admitted, it will show a permanent "New Admit" tab. By the way, if you want to calm you nerves when you see the admissions email in your inbox, but you're slightly worried to open it right away, go to Sparks and see if the New Admit tab is appearing. If its not there after maybe 15-30mins of receiving the admissions email, you probably got dinged. Makes it easier to then go read the message with more realistic expectation.
  8. Got dinged !! Good luck to the rest. HKS admissions is a mystery to me. From some of the profiles I have seen on their website, I would not have thought that some of them stood a chance to get in, but I had a really great app and didn't even get waitlisted. > Our Admissions Committee has completed its review of your application to > the MPAM program at Harvard Kennedy School. 9. Has anyone received an email yet about MPA admissions?
  10. Do you mind sharing your background/stats with us?
  11. Looks like they were in such a rush to send out notifications that they didnt proof read their own email..
  12. Also, was anyone interviewed during the application period?
  13. That is sad but true; same would go for HKS and its MC/MPA, MPA2 programs
  14. I can confirm that; my wife told me that some SIPA students were even successful in mingling at IB and MC mixers, and ended up scoring summer interships; but FT offers are pretty tough to get at the end; bcs firms asks SIPA grads mostly to join on analyst level due to lack of MBA and SIPA folks dont want that - which is understandable if you have multiple yrs of work exp.
  15. Wondering if any of the admits received a phone call from admissions member to say congratulations ?!
  16. How good for the MPPs that they are out of the waiting race. Wondering which decisions are up next. Any bets? Remaining: 1) MPA/ID 2) MC/MPA 3) MC/MPA Mason 4) MPA2
  17. HKS probably wont like to hear it, but Princeton has the most tight-knit alumni network. There is a strong sense of cameraderie among Princetonians. Dont worry so much about location. You're gonna be busy studying and running from one event to another. You will barely have time to be in the "city". And, since you're still young and pretty fresh out of undergrad, you can always do a mid-career degree later at HKS, if you get in at WWS, but I wouldnt do it the other way around. Bcs thats where Harvard beats Princeton.
  18. My wife's best friend went to Sipa. I know quite a bit about the school; if you have Qs I can try to give my perspective. If you'd like my "personal" ranking of the top 6 IR schools, it would be the following: 1. Hks 2. Wws 3. Sais 4. Sipa 5. Sfs 6. Fletcher
  19. Sounds like Sipa is not in the run for you any more? I dont blame you, its a good school, but if I had a choice I would also go for HKS or WWS. My personal advice, if you get full funding go for WWS. If not, then go for HKS. The reason I say this is bcs with IR schools rankings are not as important as with MBA or JD schools. And in your field of work later, whether you went to Princeton vs. Harvard isnt really going to matter so much. I have friends from the top 6 IR schools, and they all confirmed that the brand helps get your foot in the door, and may provide a career boost in the first 2-3 years after graduation, but after that its all about your performance and personality how good you fit in/excel at your job, My wife did such degree a few years back, and rarely does someone ask her about it any more nowadays..
  20. I agree with soapwater there. Those are the top 6 IR schools. Surely Harris, Goldman, etc. are up there too, but not as widely known globally as the top 6. With b-schools, they have this famous M7 thing, like the circle of the top 7.. @ sopawater, wish you good luck with Sipa and Oxford, dont worry about Hks, you can try again next year
  21. I have a feeling that you'll get in at all the schools you've applied to. What's your personal top ranking of these schools, if you could choose regardless of funding?
  22. Thanks a lot, appreciate it. This is like the longest message from a school I've seen. They are really keen on having those come that they admit. The previous admissions director (Burke or so, I believe) once sent out a note that TOO many had decided to enroll, asking people to consider deferring, isnt that something? -> MIT Sloan did same for this incoming MBA class..
  23. Are you paying fully yourself for the trip, accomodation, etc.? If you attend a few of admit days it may set you back financially a bit.
  24. I would love to see the acceptance email you received. I've never seen a Harvard admission note. Could you post it here for us anxiously waiting HKS hopefuls? Of course without any confidential content that you may wish to remove. Obviously, Rugger and other admits, please feel free to contribute.
