I am honestly just kind of thrilled to have made it a little bit further than last time. Of course, if I don't make it through the second round, it will be that much more disapointing, I guess.

*hugs* I'm sorry you didn't make it. I know it sucks. Hang in there and keep trying!!!!

That's cool! Good thing I don't have to give any kind of explanation on why I was out that day

omg. I know.. i know. The first time I applied, I did a skype interview because I couldn't get off work. This time, I was going to have to do the same, but my vacation time FINALLY kicked in. I had been a contract worker for like..5 months.. and then I wasn't eligible for vacation for another 90 days after being "hired". I drove up there the night before , stayed at a friend's house who lived an hour away, and got up at like 5 the next morning to drive another hour for my 8 am appt. I am perpetually late, which is why I left so damn early; I made it on time. I enjoyed a quiet breakfast at IHOP before my interview. Them pancakes were GOOOD. When I scheduled the interview, I had planned on doing a skype interview before I went to work; my campus is an hour ahead, so I would have only been a little late to work, and it would have been ok. I'm glad I got to go for the interview in person though. I felt much better about it!

I was referring more to the writing process. I can't tell you how often one of the people on my campus committee would suggest I come in to discuss something that I had written. I know they are working with a lot of people, but I had to remind them several times that I couldn't just come in. X(

Same here, I'm four hours way from my alma mater. My FPA always forgets this.. I'm not a student!! I work full time!! I can't just pop in whenever!!

Well shit, with that much prepping, I'd say. I'd hate to be one of the few from smith that didn't make it..

Must be nice..

Maybe for some reason I will hear a lot later than everyone else. BOO.

Bahh. I just heard back from my FPA. Seeing Fulbright in subject line made my stomach do a back flip. He said that the first-round notification goes out by Jan 31, but word on the street is that it will be early this year. Meaning that I should hear back sometime within the next week. Man. Guess I should just stop with the incessant email refreshing then

Okay, that makes me feel better

Soooo... how many of you have been to the countries you are applying to? What is it about said country that made you apply there? If you HAVE been there, what do you really look forward towards doing once you are there? If not, what is one thing you really look forward to? I am applying to Germany; I spent a semester there in 2008, living with a host family. Some of my most blissful moments there were riding my granny bike along the Danube, window shopping, and stopping for a Doner Kebab or some Gelato. Can you tell it's close to lunch time? Lol. When I fantacize about going back though, it's the little things that really get to me.. like sitting at a cafe and people watching, or seeing the Alps from a train window.. *sigh* Hope I have some good news today!

Man, it seems like everyone else is real pal-sy with their FPA except me.. I emailed mine earlier this morning and still haven't heard anything. I mean, it's not like he has classes to teach or anything ..
