Hi, Anyone going to MIT this fall? Did you apply for grad housing or do you want to live off-campus? I applied for Ashdown, SP and the Warehouse. Looking forward to moving to Cambridge!
  2. You don't need publications for these schools. Of course, they help a lot - but they are not necessary
  3. I applied to 12 programs (all high ranked and super competitive, 3 on east coast, 4 schools in CA). Accepted by one, at my dreamschool, so it's fine :-)
  4. OMG, just got the mail that I am accepted from waitlist! I am super excited and relieved :-) Good luck to you all!! I hope it works out for you
  5. Same for me! Interviews went great and then I got the mail: "We are confident that you would do well in our program. However, ...." I have the feeling the later it gets the lower the chance that I get accepted..this is my only shot and absolutely my dream school. Good luck to you all, two weeks left!
  6. Yeah, I applied to 12 (however, 12 top programs)..result: 9 rejects, 3 interviews..2 post-interview rejects and 1 waitlist
  7. Thanks for the advice. I already did that, they were explicitly asking for feedback. He was telling me that it is hard to predict admission from wait list due to the small size of the program..
  8. I am waitlisted at one of my fav. choices (MIT)..all other applications were rejected. The program is rather small (5-8 students) and I have no clue about my position on the wait list and how many applicants are on the waitlist. This waiting freaks me out, since I am afraid that it won't work out..and then I cannot go to the US for my PhD :-(
  9. Thanks for all your messages! Yesterday I received a post-interview rejection by Harvard. I am super super bummed, disappointed and very sad. I am obviously really not good enough. The other two interviews (HST and MIT) are coming this week and next week and I have honestly currently a lack of motivation and I am quite pessimistic about them. I am really afraid that I won't get any acceptance (out of in total 12 apps!).. Any advice how I could get back on my feet?
  10. Anyway, I agree with uromastyx. It really seems not only a bit desperate, don't do it - wait for the decision
  11. I got rejected today by MIT Bioengineering, I am really sad.. Hopefully one of the three interviews I have will lead to admission
  12. Thanks a lot for your answer! And don't get me wrong: I am really excited about the invites and if I get admission at MIT or Harvard - WOW!! But of course every rejection is a bit painful and makes me wonder if I am just invited because my supervisor is known there..
  13. Hi, I applied to 12 PhD-programs. I received just three invitations (1 Harvard, 2 MIT), and got rejected mainly in California. The three programs where I'm invited are great, and I really hope that I will be accepted in one of them. Nevertheless it leaves a bitter taste since one of my LOR worked in Boston for 5 years and he is known there. Is there simply so much randomness involved, that a well-known LOR really helps, or should I worry that I am maybe not good enough? I am thankful for any helpful answer :-)
  14. Thanks for your reply - so some hope after all :-) I have three other interviews in Boston and got rejected in CA, maybe because I'm international?
