  1. yeahhhh bummer. looks like they did send out rejections around now the past couple of years. doesn't seem that hard to do, rather than just leave people hanging lol. oh well!
  2. I totally feel you. Still waiting on three schools!
  3. I'm also waiting! In case it helps, here's some info I only recently noticed on UCI's website: All offers of admission will be made by March 25. These candidates must accept or decline their offer and financial support package no later than April 15.Candidates who have been placed on a wait list will also be notified by April 1, and offered admission and support as places become available.Applicants who have not been notified of admission or placement on the wait list by April 2, should assume they will not be offered admission. Because of the high number of applications and limited staff, it is not possible to send out denial notifications until late spring. Applicants who wish to confirm their application status sooner, may contact the Programs in Writing after April 16.
  4. Gahhhh ! Fingers crossed for both of us
  5. That's the worst part of this I think! Not being able to know what the rest of the year will look like. I have one rejection and am still waiting to hear from three schools, all of which do staggered notifications. The uncertainty is worse than the possible rejection for sure. Any of us who get rejections will all bounce back!
  6. It's not that unusual for programs to tell people when they are finalists. Happened to me last year with a different school. Yes I'm still hoping I get in this year haha, but I think of it more like a positive rejection from a lit mag—it's general encouragement about your work rather than an indication of how the admissions process will go next round. If I were you I would definitely take the NYU offer, as it's incredible to get a full ride and a stipend. Congrats!
  7. My guess is it's Colorado and they hit enter too soon haha
  8. same. last year i got my rejection on march 31 🙃
  9. Hi! I am also still waiting on UC Irvine and Boston (and UC Riverside). From what I understand, these three schools all have a history of being a little more staggered for notifications, since I think they don't explicitly notify waitlisted applicants but kind of see how things shape up as they give out acceptances. The waiting is so tough!
  10. Has anyone seen BU fiction acceptances on Draft?
  11. that person is a troll who watches and keeps records of everything people say so they can make those little posts and has been doing it for years if you've looked at older versions of the forum. every so often they change their username. they aren't actually interested in discussion, they just come up with comments they think will get people the most riled up. it's their hobby, best to ignore!
  12. I'm doing the same this year -- I applied to 8 last year, got rejected, and this year applied to 4 that I really wanted to go to (three of which, for various reasons, I did not apply to last year). Good luck to you!
  13. hey everyone! this is my second year applying. i've submitted three apps and have one more to go. last year i had such a hard time waiting to hear back! what are folks doing to deal with the waiting game?
  14. Oof, finally got my rejection from BU. They said I was in the top group of applicants, which is nice to hear, but super bummed. Straight rejections for me. It's my first year applying, and I know that it can take several tries to get in, but I'm not sure yet if I can handle the waiting game another time!! That has been far worse than the rejections themselves.
  15. Congratulations!! must be an amazing feeling
  16. Dare I ask if anyone has seen anything going on with BU fiction on Draft? I know there was nothing new as of a week ago...
  17. So nice of you to collate this and share here!
  18. "Dirty realism" is a type of realism -- I think they just used it as an example.
