Well, 2011 suggests that you might be right. Despite the very real chance that we will not hear from them, I will continue to hope that we will. Deep in the midst of a process that I cannot control, I will try my best to control my own optimism.

Hmm. Unless I am misreadnig the results board, Cornell sent out most acceptance notifications on the 15th last year. Though they did send them out nearer the end of the month in 2011. If only schools were more consistent . . .

I think that we will hear from Cornell, and that Notre Dame will send out the rest of their offers. I am assuming that the three individuals who have claimed acceptances on the results board were priority admits.

RWBG put the matter better than I could. As for the term, it is only a phrase - it only matters in how it is used. Within the context of the results page, it is not often used well. At the very least, posters should think twice of writing the term in reference to a school that reject them. Whenever I read it there, I think: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

I third this. I would be even more critical: I find these remarks rude and distasteful. I generally take them to be based on the school's ranking. As such, they likely stem from the insecurity of the poster. Hey, I understand being insecure. I am at the moment too. But denegrating others, including entire departments, out of frustration leads nowhere. If you are intent on doing that, go visit PSJR.

Right. While I understand the impulse, people should avoid doing this. Let those who were accepted savor their gains. Besides, these posts have always struck me as being silly. After all, the poster did apply to the school, so they presumably saw some value in the program.

This. The signal/noise ratio on the results board can be low, anyway. Posting speculation does not help anyone, including the poster.

This seems to be a thing with schools. Even though I received an official offer from Illinois a week ago, the app status is still 'submitted.' Updating the application portal probably falls pretty low on the list of priorities for many administrators.

I have heard zilch. I spoke with the department a while ago and they made no mention of their timetable. I really wish that schools had an online application status check.

We might have discovered a common factor to our optimism - I was listening to uplifting early 90s hits. Perhaps music has made us both delusional. That said, I would rather think that we are simply looking at our futures with the right amount of skepticism and optimism.
