  1. It was mentioned in a rather long email I received regarding my fellowship nomination for the program. I didn't request the email, however, I think it's probably something sent to the majority of new admits (although it's somewhat personalized).
  2. Got this in an email about funding this morning: "This year, we anticipate accepting an incoming cohort of 18 new Master’s and Ph.D. students (9 students entering with BA degrees and 9 students entering with MA degrees)." The phrase "anticipate accepting" indicates that they aren't finished, right? Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone else waiting to hear back.
  3. Apparently 5/10 SUNY Buffalo admits posted results here. Nice way to engage with potential cohort members.
  4. Reading this thread makes me anxious to find housing. I know I'll be visiting at the end of the March, but I don't know what my housing outlooks will be by then
  5. I'm looking forward to hearing from Michigan's American Culture program as well (although I won't be attending), I'm still anxious to know.
  6. Wish my upvotes weren't gone for the day. Congrats! That feeling is untouchable
  7. Yippee! Got a call from OSU emphatically detailing a funding package. I haven't officially heard back from my other schools yet, but I think my mind is made up.
  8. Just wanted to add The University of Alabama to the list which now stands as: Arizona State University Auburn University Boston College Bowling Green State University Depaul University--Chicago Georgetown Kent State University Lehigh University Louisiana State University Marquette University Miami University of Ohio Michigan State University Minnesota State Ohio University--Athens Penn State - feeder to PhD Purdue University Texas A&M University of Alabama - Tuscaloosa University of Alberta (Canada) University of Delaware University of Colorado--Boulder University of Connecticut University of Florida University of Georgia University of Illinois--Urbana Champaign University of Kansas University of Kentucky University of Maine University of Massachussetts--Boston University of Minnesota--Duluth University of Missouri University of Nebraska University of New Mexico University of Oklahoma University of Oregon University of South Carolina University of Tennessee University of Vermont University of Washington University of Western Ontario (Canada) University of Wisconsin--Milwaukee Villanova University Wake Forest University Washington State
  9. Visited Northwestern's program over the summer, but I got bad vibes and decided against applying. I'm not sure about most of the programs listed, but like many others suggested Northwestern has a premiere program (their queer black studies strength is what initially attracted me, but McBride is quite busy these days). I'm not sure what your specific interest is, but it still remains a strong program in a great location (just not suited for me). I am, however, applying to the PhD program at Massachusetts (Amherst), the MA program at Wisconsin (Madison) and the American Culture program at Michigan (Ann Arbor). I visited Indiana's AAS program and really did love it, but they aren't admitting students for two seasons and I found out that most of their faculty members who did black queer studies moved to the gender & sexuality studies department, so I applied there as well.
  10. Thanks for the additional information and congrats on your interview (and acceptance to WashU)!
  11. Just found out a friend got accepted to both Wisconsin - Madison and Illinois - Urbana/Champagne (I think she's comp/rhet). Anywho it's exciting to see people excited. Edit: Add Ohio State to her list. She's a force.
  12. Darn. I'm definitely a bit disappointed, but I think my second choice is a pretty good option. I did research at Emory the summer after my sophomore year and fell in love so it hurts, but I think I'll have to manage.
  13. I've been lurking around this site for a bit and I've noticed that many people have confirmed requests for interviews for Emory's English PhD program. I applied, but was not granted an interview, so I'm wondering if no interview typically indicates rejection/waitlist. Does anyone have any insight? I was admitted to my second choice already and I would like to accept if there's no hope for admission at Emory, but I also don't want to jump to any conclusions. Any and all insight is much appreciated Edit: I'm also aware that Emory typically accepts 6-9 students, so does it follow that most people placed on the waitlist were students who interviewed, but were not first admits?
  14. Not all are programs in English (many interdisciplinary related fields), but my list is as follows: Ohio State University University of Michigan University of Wisconsin Indiana University University of Alabama Auburn University Emory University Washington University in St. Louis Miami University of Ohio
