  1. For those of you who have heard from CIR, was it by email? And has your status on the application checker changed at all?
  2. Yeah saw that. Any way we can obsessively check our status or do we just have to sit and wait?
  3. That was technically to the MA program and I got an email in December (I think - either that or early January can't remember) I had indicated that I was applying for the fall but I think they took my early submission to mean the Spring (which apparently happens often). Sorry I can't help more!
  4. Yeah that was me - I had called the department on Tuesday last week and they said either by the end of that week or early next week. Then I got an email response to the email I had sent a few days earlier and she said the absolute latest we'll hear is the 28th.... So either way it'll be sometime this week....
  5. Agreed on all fronts! Congrats though! Mind me asking your subfield?
  6. My rejection was up on the Apply yourself page this morning - I haven't checked the gratdstatus one
  7. I had a minor heart attack when I saw that post thinking "oh goodness, there are still spots!" but it seems they got the email on the 14th so same as others :/
  8. My dad, who is the chair of a polisci department, says that often times these schools that do the waves of rejections are waiting to figure out if they'll be able to fund one or two more. It's also possible that they're figuring out their waitlists. UVa is the classic example: they send out three or four acceptances for the fellowship nominations and once they have the results of that and some responses form the applicants, they return to the pile to see who else they can afford funding for. I still think it's hugely inefficient to do it this way, especially since they all know about grad cafe, buuuut I guess I sorta get it...
  9. Also, for anyone else waiting, Berkeley responded to my email inquiry that I sent on Monday about when we'd hear back and they responded with "All decisions will be sent out by next Thursday. We appreciate your interest in our program and patience with the results." So there's that...
  10. I think there are a few of us who are still waiting on Northwestern (myself included) and they said end of February. Can't speak to UW though
  11. Yeah I called on Tuesday and they said the absolute latest would be early next week but she made it seem more like Friday - keeping my fingers crossed for everyone!
  12. Maybe, but it seems reasonable for UChicago 'cause we know that there's the bumping of your application to the MA program if your app isn't accepted in the first round. As for Minnesota - I think people who are still waiting should call because it could be a waitlist thing or they could've forgotten names on the mass email (like how Cornell forgot to send me mine until I asked for it). However, the spreading out of rejections over three consecutive days seems both like a waste of time (clearly the decisions have been made since they've already sent out acceptances) and unnecessarily anxiety inducing. Anywho, you'd think by now schools would have realized that with online forums like GradCafe it'd save them a heck of a lot of time in responding to emails and calls if they just posted everything on the same day!
  13. Yeah - feels like lunch break.... That being said - I emailed them on Monday and was going to give them till this afternoon to get back to me before I called and now seeing these rejections, I will certainly be calling if by the end of the day my status hasn't changed
  14. I'm theory too and yes, I don't want to be left hanging anymore - this is one of the few schools I have left to hear from that could completely change up the field for me
  15. I think someone already did a few pages back... Edit: Unless you mean the one from this morning that I just now saw so you can ignore me. There was one claimed earlier
  16. I second this question - my status online hasn't changed yet so just curious if you were notified to check first
