  1. Yes, I applied to IFLI, the new Indonesian Flagship program. I am a PhD student in Anthropology. It sounds like you are also studying in Asia? Last year they notified on April 17th.

    Boren 2018-2019

Yup, that was the biggest explanation I could think of. I also wonder if maybe less people are going to grad school now than they were a few years ago. I really have no idea. I think it's great that you're applying in undergrad, it gives you a lot of options.

Cool, it sounds like we're applying for a bunch of different languages. I can't speak to the budget update emails, but during a Fellowship webinar they did mention that less people applied this year than usual. Unfortunately, I think it's just a waiting game at this point.

I don't see much action on this thread, but I did apply for the new IFLI Boren Fellowship program for Bahasa Indonesian. I'm a PhD student in Anthropology. Interested to see if anyone else on this thread is also applying for IFLI or studying Indonesia.
  5. I actually got a response via email before I could call. The answer was nice, but cryptic. He basically said that the process is on-going and that all applicants will be notified either way within the next week. I am assuming that rejection is imminent. Sigh.
  6. Hey everyone, it has been a week. I am going to wait a few more days and then make contact again. Unfortunately I think that I already know the answer, but we will see. I've noticed that a lot of people on the forums have said: "It's not over until it's over" lol. Maybe this will be true in my case. I suspect that they're still waiting to see who has accepted/denied the first round of offers.
  7. Hey guys, I'm waiting to hear from the last school that I applied to. I contacted the graduate director via email and have not heard anything. How do I interpret this? The school does not conduct interviews so I can't base anything off of that. One person posted in the Results Search on February 9th, but in rare cases some students have heard as late as March 26th in past years. Still, I would assume that silence = rejection. Thoughts?
  8. Thanks to kald and Jung for mentioning the age aspect of reapplying. I feel more confident in my academic abilities as time goes by, and I hope that some sort of wisdom (and more job experience) shows in my applications next year. I know that for this coming round I will need to apply to more places and consult with more professors. And I need to start early, like September, even though the wait will be horrible come the Spring .
  9. I haven't heard anything yet either. Meh. Here's a little humor from the results search though: http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=hogwarts
  10. Good to know I'm not alone in staring at the calendar. Good luck!
  11. 23, will be turning 24 this summer. Did I read correctly when someone said mid-teens lol? In any case, younger or older everyone brings something interesting and different to the table.
  12. The most frustrating thing for me has been looking (or obsessing) at the results pages and wondering why the dates aren't lining up. In past years it looks like one of my schools informed applicants of their status on February 8th, it's now February 12th. Yes, I'm nitpicking and a complete mess at this point. You'd think I was a crack addict the way I'm staring at these results searches lol.
