Did anyone on this forum receive one of the Duke M.T.S. scholarships? If so, will you be accepting the offer?

Bumping this. Are there any YDS MARc graduates who can speak to what it means to "work closely with a professor of your respected discipline," like the YDS website says?

Correct. I am having a difficult time deciding between YDS MARc and Duke MTS.

Thanks Josh J. I spoke with an admissions faculty member at Duke via email who said that all MTS scholarships have been awarded and the recipients notified at this time.

Has anyone received their official letters of acceptance by postal mail yet? I received my first acceptance via email about three weeks ago and still no post mail from anyone.

I'm sorry to hear that. There is always next year! Every year is different it seems, and another year to strengthen your application couldn't hurt.

I would echo what has already been said. Ultimately you have to decide which ethics you want to study. As Lux Lex Pax said, each school tends to produce similar students based on the scholars who teach there. It is fairly easy to spot, say, a Duke ethics student who was likely influenced by the Hauerwas school.

Head to head, how do these two programs compare? What are pros and cons to each? I am interested in historical theology, specifically patristics. But I also want my masters to provide a broad stroke. I can focus in PhD work.

So I wonder if there's any chance ND is still trickling out acceptances? The whole thing just seems a bit odd.

Is it worth asking YDS for more funding? I received 50%, but would love some more given undergrad loan debt and such. What is the success rate for this kind of thing? Can it hurt to ask?

The whole process is absurdly subjective it seems, for every school. Would y'all say the YDS MARc is as good of a program as the Duke or ND MTS?

It is odd that none of us here even got wait-listed. What the hell? Especially given the fact that a number of us were accepted to YDS' MARc and Duke's MTS. I know these aren't as competitive as ND's MTS, but they are pretty selective.

Not sure. According to some results postings in years past they don't seem to fancy any particular day. It seems some schools are keen on Fridays. Though, I hope ND doesn't make us wait that long...

I am in the same situation. Waiting on pins and needles for the ND MTS results. I will be going to ND if accepted there, but if not I will be moving to New Haven.

I'm not sure about the deferring admission business. But I am curious, when did you hear about the Notre Dame MTS acceptance?
